Loki was... different. Since young age, he was so different than the rest of the kids - small, shy, secluded, books and magic. While the others, just like Thor, were big, loud and athletics. Because the differences, it gave those kids the reason to pick on him, bully him and make fun of him. Because Loki wouldn't fight back. Too shy and fragile to fight back.
Holding a pile of books in hand, Loki tried his best to ignore the laughter and fingers pointing at him. He picked up his pace so he could get to his room as fast as possible. It hurt. He didn't understand why'd they hate him so much. Just because he was smaller than them? Because he liked books and magic instead of sports and fighting.
"Look at that freak" One dude shouted and the rest of the squad laughed harder. The same dude stuck his foot out when Loki walked by, he didn't see it and tripped over. Fell to the grounds with his precious books scattered all over. Still, Loki didn't fight back. He just stayed there for a few seconds, quietly wiped the tears away.
"Awww he's gonna cry. What a pussy" The other mocked, their laugh increased. And the harder Loki tried to hold back the tears, the more those salty liquid ran down his face.
"Hey! Leave my brother alone!" Just then, out of the blue, a similar voice and heavy footsteps emerged from the door. Loki turned to the side and saw Thor quickened his pace towards him. The big brother was in front of the bullies in three quick strikes and, with no warning, a mean punch was delivered right across the scum's face (the one who tripped Loki) the strong impact send him to the ground with a broken nose and cut lips. His friends quickly pulled him up as he spat out blood. There were five of them, yet Thor shown no signs of fear. The Thunder God looked each of them dead in the eyes, as if challenging. Thor's hands still clenched into tight fists, his chest heaved and his blood boiled with anger. He could break their necks right then and there. No one touched his baby brother.
Though there was no fight. Before Thor could teach them a lesson, they all ran away. All of them. Disappeared in a heartbeat. Leaving Thor alone with Loki. Once there were just the two of them, the rage in Thor's eyes began to fade away, his face softened and his fists loosened.
Loki, still on the ground, looked up at his brother through teary green orbs. He even flinched a little when Thor looked down and their eyes met. Indeed, violence was not in Loki's vocabulary. The brutal scene he had just witnessed made his skin crawl. He knew Thor did it to protect him, knew his brother would never hurt him, yet he couldn't help but be a bit jumpy.
"Oh, Loki..." Thor sighed and got on his knees in front of his brother. The God of Thunder reached for those books scattered around Loki, gathering them together and then, his hand reached out and stayed in front of Loki, waiting for him to take.
Loki gulped. He, being so shy as always, hesitated for a few seconds before slowly placed his hand on top of Thor's whom had the warmest and kindest smile displaying across his face.
Guiding both himself and Loki up, Thor then handed Loki the books before placing a hand on his shoulder "You don't have to be afraid, brother. I'll protect you. As long as I'm alive, I won't let anything happen to you" it was until now that small smile made its way on Loki's face. He might be too shy to say it, but he was thankful Thor was always there for him. God, what would he do without his big brother?
