What would become of the bond between Thor and Loki if Thor's father wasn't the one who found the Giant's offspring on Jotunheim that day?... Someone else did.

After bringing doom upon realm after realm, it was time Thanos paid Jotunheim a visit. Chaos, death and desperate hollow blew through chilling air. The Mad Titan's faraway expression carried past the horizon to nothingness far beyond. All of this was necessary. To remain the balance, half of them would have to die. That's how it worked. Salvation always came with sacrifice.

"Father, your command is taken care off. We slaughtered half of them, no mercy, no hesitation. The universe lies within your grasp." Said Proxima Midnight.

"Well done, my children. Our mission here is completed." The Titan nodded and with a wave of his hand, the henchmen left the scene, and Thanos was once again alone. Or so he thought. He was about to take his leave when, suddenly, a faint cry of a baby entered his ears. It came with the wind. Almost be mistaken as a cold breeze.

Thanos shouldn't have cared. He could have just ignored it and walked away, but for some unknown reason, the Titan found himself following the sound. He walked and he walked through dust and ashes till he now stopped in front of a living soul. An infant laying on top of the debris, crying, cold and suffering. With one look Thanos could tell who it was: son of king Laufey whom his children had just killed. Soon, the baby would follow its father to the afterlife. It wouldn't stand a chance here in the freezing weather. Let it be. Was Thanos' first thought. He wasted enough time already, he should get going by now. Though before he could turn back and walk away, the infant made eye contact with him. There was this something about it that turned the stone in the chest of the Mad Titan soft.

The Titan growled. He picked the infant up, and as surprising as it looked, its disturbing cry turned into joyful smile the moment it laid in the safety of Thanos' palm. The baby reached its short, tiny fingers up and wrapped them around the Titan's finger. And Thanos couldn't help but chuckle. He knew at that moment he wasn't going to leave it here to freeze to death. "I shall call you Loki."

"Where are you going, my son?" Thor stopped and turned around. His father stood there with the queen by his side.

"When will I be able to go with them?" Asked the child. The warriors had already took a turn and no longer in Thor's sight.

"One day. When you're old enough." Odin responded with the same emotionless expression.

"But I want to go with them now. I want to kill them, every single one of them: Thanos and all of his children. We will slaughter them all."

"Your ambition is admirable, my son. It is why I never doubt you will grow up and be the strongest king. Thanos and his children will fear you, as they should be. You shall show no mercy, you shall never stop until the last one of them laid by your feet, dead and bloodless." The king's voice echoed in the child's head. This wasn't the first time Thor was told these words. Since he grew up, Odin always made sure his only son knew what he was born to be. What he was: a king whose birthright was to kill.

The Allfather walked away, and Thor was alone in the hallway with his mother: the queen with the sweetest soul. Once it was just mother and son, Frigga picked her eight-year-old up in her arms. Thor could never be too big for her to hold. It took times like these: when Odin was out of earshot that Frigga whispered her words in Thor's ears. "Your father is wrong," Said the queen, "Merciless action isn't what makes a king strong. Remember my words, son, it's not when to kill but when to show mercy. Forgiveness is what makes a good king."
