"Hello, Nightshade," Subject CV4 greeted in a thick Russian accent.
Jade swallowed, her amber eyes flickering to the black remote in the bionic soldier's hand. She was confused about how there was another bionic soldier. She thought that any stragglers died in the explosion along with Ivanov. She wondered where this soldier came from.
Subject CV4 loved seeing Jade in such a weak position and seeing the fear easily on her face. "Your time is now—" her thumb hovered over the activation button, but Jade held out a palm.
"Wait! I will comply to you," Jade interrupted frantically. "I will go with you."
Subject CV4 stopped, looking at Jade with caution and eyeing her up and down. "Why so easily?"
"Because if Nightshade becomes activated, she would want to start a massacre," Jade started to explain, saying the first thing that popped into her mind. "And that will draw everyone's attention on us. We want to leave without any witnesses, right? That's what Ivanov taught us. If you leave me how I am, we can sneak out the back, unnoticed." Jade furrowed her eyebrows together in confusion. "Is this your first mission?"
"That's none of your concern," Subject CV4 remarked.
"Just put the remote down," Jade ordered carefully.
"She wanted Nightshade," the bionic soldier exclaimed. "That's who I'm bringing in."
"Fine, go ahead," Jade said with a shrug of her shoulders. "Gosh, fail your mission."
"I'm not going to fail."
Jade nodded with a tight annoyed smile. "Yes, you will. If you activate Nightshade, we won't go unnoticed, and I'm pretty sure that two Avengers are in this building. And they both defeated Nightshade and got her to surrender, so, I mean, if you want that to happen again, go ahead and press that button."
Subject CV4 looked down at the remote in her hand, conflicted. She thought that this was a trap. Why else would Jade easily handed herself over without a fight?
The restroom door tried to open, but since Subject CV4 had locked it from the inside, it wouldn't budge. "Kitkat? Are you in there?"
Subject CV4 whipped around, jaw clenched at the person trying to enter the locked restroom. Jade took that chance to body slam the black-haired girl out of her way. The remote flew out of her hand, landing underneath the sinks. Jade sprinted off, but Subject CV4 immediately wrapped her arms around Jade's neck, pushing back to cause Jade to struggle with breathing.
"Don't you even think about it," the bionic soldier harshly whispered into Jade's ear.
Jade could hear Wanda knocking on the door, trying to get in because she heard nothing from inside. Jade extended one arm out, wanting to touch the door, but Subject CV4 prevented her from doing that. The dark-haired soldier used her bionic ability to stretch one of her limbs to grasp the remote that had fallen under the sinks.
Jade's eyes widened, elbowing her hard in the abdomen. Subject CV4 gasped for air, bending forward. Jade twisted her stretched-out arm, wanting to wrap it around the leg of the stall. Subject CV4 hissed angrily as she noticed Jade making a run for the remote. She stuck out her long leg, tripping Jade over.
Subject CV4 flipped back up on her feet, pressing the button on the remote. Jade tensed up, hearing the click as her eyes were clenched shut. She waited for the anticipation, but nothing happened. The dark-haired woman growled, frustrated as she pressed it again and again. The outcome stayed the same.
