The hooded figure disappeared as a car drove by. Jade blinked, spinning around, trying to get eyes on him again. A large and rough hand covered her mouth, pulling her body towards a hard chest. The hooded figure ran away with her as she arrived to get out of his grip, but she soon stopped when she felt the cold barrel of a gun pressed against her side.
He dragged her behind the store, keeping an eye out for any witnesses and to see if the street was clear. He ran across the street, meeting up with other buildings and soon enough alleyways. He shoved her against a brick wall, keeping his gun locked on her as two other people blocked the main entrance of the alleyway, a male and a female.
She was trapped.
The hooded figure removed his hood from his head, and Jade saw the two different eye colours that she horrifyingly remembered from the day she was abducted. She swallowed, masking her terrified expression and thoughts. "Why do you even want me?"
Vincent smirked. "You're my niece."
Jade's eyes widened as she could feel the fast pace of her heart beating like a herd of horses racing through an open field. "Niece?"
Vincent flashed her a sickening smirk. "I'm Victoria's older brother."
Jade faintly remembered a ginger woman in her mind that looked a little like her but older. She had a caring smile as she hovered over Jade, tucking her in bed. Jade shook her head, not knowing what to do with the incoming new memory of a woman she once called her mother.
A new memory fell into her mind as her mother talked about her siblings. Victoria would say that she had an older brother but wouldn't go further than that. When Jade got curious, she asked her grandfather, and he told her that he died a long time ago. She could tell that there was something else he wanted to say, but he swallowed the words back down.
Jade closed her eyes, desperately trying to remember what her grandfather told her as a kid. She could see the faded memory, but it wasn't clear enough. Words echoed in her mind in a deep voice.
"Someone said that you died?" Jade questioned, unsure.
Vincent's dark eyes narrowed at the trapped girl before he chuckled, nodding his head with annoyance. He gritted his teeth together. "Of course they did!" He yelled angrily. "They didn't care about me. They were the ones who killed little Vincent. They killed me, so I was going to kill them and their prized possession; little Jade. But let me tell you, Victoria wasn't perfect! She had dirty secrets of her own!"
Jade immediately felt sick to her stomach. The two people that were keeping guard silently watched back and forth between the niece and uncle.
"That day of the car accident," Vincent started, tilting his gun side to side as he examined it, "was supposed to kill both you and Victoria."
Jade knew that memory, clear as day. The day she was screaming and pleading for her mother to slow down, Victoria never listened. She was too high on drugs. "She killed herself," Jade whispered.
"She wasn't overdosing!" Vincent sneered out, understanding what Jade was referring to. "I put a drug in her drink when I snuck into your house while you were at school! It made her addicted. I was the car that collided with hers! It was all me!"
Jade flinched at the loudness of his voice. Jade blinked, trying to recollect her thoughts again. She wanted to know more about this before she escaped. She was stalling him, keeping him distracted. While they were talking, she had used her bionic ability to formulate a possible escape route that wouldn't put her at risk of failing, and she had found one. All that was next was to wait for the perfect timing to execute the plan. "So all of those times on my missions, you were waiting for me to fail?"
