eleanor anne kavinsky.

smile! smile! smile! keep smiling, baby! it's almost over!

she smiled with shawn mendes in her arms as she stood still as a statue, letting the cameras immortalise her image. she let go of him and instead grabbed his shaking hand and whispered to him, "dance!"

as if it were a cue, the sad melodies and heartbreaking chords of 'mercy' stopped and the energetic guitar riffs of 'treat you better' began. eleanor grabbed shawn's other hand and began to sing along, "i won't lie to you."

shawn, who seemed to understand what eleanor was trying to do, continued, "i know he's just not right for you."

eleanor started to sway to the words, bringing their hand over her heart as she sang, "and you can tell me if i'm off but i can see it on your face when you say that he's the one that you want."

"and you're spending all your time in this wrong situation and anytime you want it to stop," shawn smiled at her and took her hands and spinned her around.

"and i know i can treat you better than he can!" the two sang in harmony, their two vastly different voices intertwining to create a sound so beautiful it was like god herself was singing a hymn that was so perfect that it turned sinners into believers.

"and any girl like you deserves a gentleman!" shawn and eleanor dances around, still aware of the cameras but just enjoying themselves a little more that they usually would have. this was a first for eleanor as she could never truly unwind and be herself around the cameras and the action but here she was, having a little fun.

by the end of the bridge and the two were laughing around and dancing the photographer yelled "stop!" and the music and the moment died. "that was perfect! we definitely got a cover shot in there!"

eleanor and shawn broke apart and while shawn stood awkwardly, not knowing what to do, eleanor smiled and said, "thank you!" to the photographer, and immediately after that, an assistant on the side called her over for an outfit change.

eleanor quickly hugged shawn and whispered, "bye!" before running off to her next set before shawn could even respond.

well, even if he did have the opportunity to respond, he wasn't so sure as to what he would've said to her.

"shawn!" andrew called, standing on the side, "come on!"

and with that, shawn left.

shawn peter raul mendes.

shawn walked out of his dressing room. it was currently nine pm and all  he wanted to do at that moment in time was curl up in his bed and watch grey's anatomy. but on his way out he noticed an open door which was labelled "eleanor kavinsky" and he could hear voices inside. so naturally he did what every other curious person would've done. he eavesdropped.

"that was a long day, right, e?" chris asked as eleanor pulled on a grey jumper.

"chris, you weren't even the one in front of the camera," eleanor sighed, picking up her bags from the floor.

"i know, i know."

silence.

"hey, you met shawn mendes? how was he? did you like him? he seemed nice to me," chris said, trying to break the tension.

suddenly, shawn perked up and started paying more attention. now, this was interesting.

"he seems okay, a little awkward. but then again he's a teen sensation that never gets the girl. what more could i expect?" eleanor sighed.

is that how low eleanor thought of him? this was new.

"e, that's you in a nutshell," chris said bluntly.

confusion clouded shawn's mind. as far as he knew, from all the interviews and the media attention she got, he had never heard of her being the lonely one.

"you forgot the 'innocent' sugar baby part," eleanor laughed, reaching into her bag for a blunt, "wait, is weed legal here? i don't really care though!"

"e, you can't smoke! you know what that does to your voice! and it only puts you in a worse mood after you come off it," chris pleaded, snatching the blunt out of her hand and throwing it in the bin.

"hey! that cost me ten bucks!" eleanor angrily exclaimed.

"eleanor, please!" chris begged.

"ok, fine! is there anything else i can use or-"

"no!" chris cut her off, "no more, please."

"i'm going out now. bye," eleanor said before storming outside and as soon as she saw shawn she froze and after a moment she ran off, chris chasing after her and the only thing on shawn's mind was: "what the fuck."
