eleanor anne kavinsky.

"why did you feel the need to rent out a mansion for the day?" eleanor asked, a little annoyed at the efforts chris had made as she got out of his car and stared at the house before her.

"it's mainly for us three to hang out but we need to include mendes because we love doing charity work," marina said casually, following her out, "anyway where are the keys? i need to get my bag and i'm going straight for the pool bitches!"

"marina, you just ate," eleanor ran after her as she went to the boot of the car and started to take out their bags while marina just shrugged.

"anyway, shawn will be here soon and basically the aim of this is make some cute snapchat and instagram stories as well as an instagram post or two. we need to sell this boyfriend-girlfriend act. and i'm here to make sure you all behave," chris said as he walked up to the doors of the mansion.

"e, you should buy a place like this. up in the hills... gates... a pool!" marina said, getting excited at the prospect of owning a house with a pool.

"marina, imagine cleaning a house like this! i'm happier with my little loft in new york," eleanor shrugged as chris unlocked the doors, letting them in.

"you hire people dumbass," marina started, "woah. this is fucking huge."

"that's an understatement," eleanor corrected her.

"okay, i'm going to call shawn. see where he is," chris ignored them, trying to get them all organised.

"come on, c, have some fun!" marina said, following him into the overly large kitchen.

"i will once i sort a couple things out. we're working right now, you do know that?" chris responded and dialled shawn's number.

"okay, i'm going out to the pool for snapchat number one, come on, e" marina laughed, pulling eleanor along with her.

"okay, so if we're going to have to endure the presence of mendes, it can't hurt to try and listen to his music? have you listened to any of it?" marina asked, stripping off her clothes, leaving her a white bikini.

"yes, and i can't lie - it's good. it's all electric guitar and it's very raw. i can understand the appeal of him now, and you know what? after i listened to it i even got a couple notes down for album three! never thought that would come from listening to shawn mendes," eleanor told her honestly, taking off her clothes, revealing her black swimsuit.

"damn sis, he's already made his impact and y'all barely know each other!" marina chuckled.

as eleanor went and sat down by the pool, her lower legs feeling the cold water against her skin, pleasing it, she could hear the faint sound of a doorbell. oh no.

"hey shawn! how are ya?" she could hear chris ask brightly.

"i'm good, i'm good, and you?" came shawn's relaxed voice.

"i'm great, eleanor's in the back with marina - oh shit, i should probably call her assistant. i'm going to go make a phone call, i'll be back. go, make yourself at home," chris said before rushing off somewhere.

"okay, i'm going to get some drinks from the cooler. want anything?" marina asked, looking back at eleanor who only shook her head in response, "your loss."

eleanor reached nearby into her bag for her phone and started going through twitter, occasionally smiling and liking tweets. in the background, she heard marina and shawn briefly greet each other and marina laughing, "no, i'm not an assistant - i'm too good for that. i'm just here to make sure this doesn't get awkward as fuck. and i'm only in la for three more days and i intend on spending it with the dumbass known as chris steinburg and the asshole known as eleanor kavinsky."

shawn could only awkwardly chuckle in response.

"anyway, e's in the back. go talk to her and make her socialise with people that aren't me or chris," marina said before running away.

oh shit, he's coming.

eleanor heard him drop his bag by a chair and the sound of clothes falling to the floor.

"hi," she heard his voice from behind her.

eleanor turned around and saw him in a pair of navy swimming trunks and a sweet smile, and from her seated height he seemed gigantic - no, he was gigantic. "hi," she replied simply.

"can i sit?" he asked politely.

"nothing stopping you," eleanor responded coolly.

at eleanor's words, shawn bent down and sat down next to her, his long legs dangling down in the cold pool water.

"so," shawn awkwardly started, "how are you?"

"i'm good, i'm enjoying the peace. and i haven't seen marina in a while so it's nice to spend time with her," eleanor told him, looking down at her thighs and gripping her phone tightly.

"marina? the girl i saw earlier? she seems fun. i think i've seen her on your instagram a couple times. what does she do?" shawn asked.

"she owns a really upscale bar in manhattan, very exclusive," eleanor told her.

"would i be able to get in?" shawn playfully asked.

"depends, what's your net worth?" eleanor smiled.

the two sat in a somewhat comfortable silence for a few seconds until eleanor remembered why she was here. "wait, stay here," she said before turning around and dropping into the cold water.

picking up her phone and opening snapchat she told shawn, "laugh," and started recording as shawn smiled his gorgeous smile that made girls swoon and began laughing an adorable laugh and eleanor couldn't help but smile at it. his happiness was contagious. "what?" shawn giggled as eleanor reached the end of her recording.

"okay, i got it," she said, showing him, "does that seem ok?"

shawn took eleanor's phone from her and watched the video and eleanor couldn't help but feel a little queazy at his actions. her phone held an awful lot of eleanor's secrets and she didn't trust shawn at all.

"i like it," shawn said, interrupting her thoughts, "i'd buy it."

"good."

"should i post it?" shawn asked, looking down at her.

"sure," eleanor replied.

a moment.

"wait, someone called grace just sent you a text saying that you two should meet up-"

"wait, hold up! keep that pose!" marina called out, running towards them with her arms full with coca cola cans, "y'all look cute as fuck right now and we're going to use that."

marina dropped the cans onto the pool chair with shawn's bags and went over to the pool to snatch eleanor's phone from her, "sorry, anyway - act natural."

as the camera clicked, eleanor could only think, "natural. that's easy."
