Kehlani paced the emergency waiting room of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, muttering a few things under her breathe. She was actually praying, but her words were incoherent. All that was embedded in her mind at the moment was images of August seizing. Even though August was a lot of things, her heart hurt seeing him almost die in front of her. She wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy.

Lucas walked behind Kehlani, grabbing her frigid body softly as he turned her around, enveloping her in a hug. She didn't need anybody to tell her that August was going to be okay or to pray; she just needed someone to be there and Lucas was that safe haven at the moment.

A flustered doctor walked out the emergency room doors, panting heavily. "Family of August Alsina?" She called out, scanning the sea of faces.

Kehlani pulled away from Lucas, running up to the doctor, her eyes pleading for answers. "Is he okay? Please tell me something."

"Are you family?" the doctor inquired, side eyeing Kehlani.

"I am," Mr. Maurice walked through the doors, a look of distress on his face. "I'm his cousin and his mother placed him under my care since he's staying with me," he explained, a look of surprise on his face seeing Kehlani was there.

"Hi my name is Dr. Ross. Your cousin has been in my care since his arrival to the hospital. Did you know that August was prescribed Valium and Xanax from his therapist?"

Mr. Maurice nodded, a look of doubt on his face. "Well I did know that he was given some medicine for his anxiety but we never went into too much detail about it," he cleared his throat.

"Well August overdosed on those pills. He took them both with a mixture of purple sprite spearheading a deadly combination. The chemical imbalance of the pills caused him to seize and if it wasn't for paramedics arriving when they did, he could've died. Thankfully we've got him stable. We pumped his stomach and are giving him electrolytes and other essential fluids through IV. Psych is classifying this as a suicide watch so he can't have any visitors for the next 48 hours until we're done evaluating him," Dr. Ross explained, her expression unmoving.

Mr. Maurice rubbed his throbbing temples, sighing deeply. If it wasn't one thing, it was another. "Did you know that he was abusing his pills?" He asked, looking at Kehlani.

She shook her head no fervently. "I had no idea. I didn't even know he was taking anxiety meds," she answered still in shock.

He clenched his jaw tightly, before looking back at the nurse. "Thank you. For the update. Please give me a call when he can receive visitors. I have to make some phone calls," he quickly turned on his heels, before rushing out the door.

The nurse gave Kehlani a stern look before turning around to go back into the ER, leaving her and Lucas to themselves in the empty waiting room.

"What the fuck was that?" Kehlani looked back at Lucas, utter confusion on her face. "How can he just leave like that knowing his cousin is on suicide watch?" she gasped, as her eyes watered with tears.
