Chapter 22

Veronica POV

🌞Next Morning🌞

I woke up and walked downstairs with my mom.

"Mom, I forgot to tell you that Ethan is coming over today." I said.

"Yeah, of course honey........ Oh and on Monday, you're going back to school." My mom said.

"Already??" I said.

"Veronica, I'm sorry honey." My mom said and I already knew where this conversation was going.

"When??" I asked while looking at her a little sad.

"In two days." My mom said.

"How long??" I asked with a sigh.

"7 to 9 months." My mom said while walking to me.

"Wow, more than half a year." I said.

"Veronica, I'm really sorry. I know you need me right now. I'm such a bad mom." My mom said while looking down.

"No mom, you're not a bad mom. You're the best mom ever." I said while hugging her.

"It's alright, work is work." I said as she hugs me back.

We pulled away and my mom walked in the living room with my uncle. I walked upstairs to take a shower. Once I was done taking a shower, I walked out the shower and to my closet. I was looking for a shirt when I remembered standing here with Aaron before he hurt me. It was one of the best day of my life. I grabbed my sweatpants and my black shirt. I put them on with a pair of white socks.

I brushed my hair and teeth. I then grabbed my laptop to watch Netflix while waiting for Ethan. I put on pretty little liars.

Like 3 hours later, my mom yelled.

"VERONICA!!! ETHAN AND EMMA ARE HERE!!" My mom yelled as I walked downstairs.

Emma?!?! I was confused but it's ok since she is my bestie.

"Lazy day, huh?!" Emma said while looking at my outfit.

"Yeah.... come on." I said and we walked upstairs.

"Veronica, I brought Emma because I'm going to leave in like 2 hours and I didn't want to leave you alone." Ethan said while walking inside my room.

"Yeah, it's ok. I was going to invite her anyways." I said while sitting on my bed.

I grabbed my laptop and sat on the floor.

"So what do you guys want to watch??" I asked.

"Lets watch........ The orange is the new black." Emma said.

"Yeah we should." Ethan said and I nodded.

We start watching it. It was a really good show. I really like it.

Ethan puts his arm around me and I rest my head on his chest. Emma paused the movie.

"Look guys, I'm here to make Veronica some company but I'm feeling more like third wheeling." Emma said as we laughed.

We pulled away and press play on the show.

"I have to go. I'm really sorry." Ethan said while looking at his watch.

"It's alright. See ya." I said while kissing his cheek and he blushes.

"Bye guys, see ya later." Ethan said while walking out.

"Omg Veronica, that was the cutest thing ever." Emma said.

"What?!?! The show?!?!" I asked and she hits me.

"Ow, what was that for?!?" I asked while holding my arm.

"You know what I mean." Emma said while pausing the show and turning to me.

She starts talking about how cute me and Ethan will look together.

She makes me laugh for some of her comments.

"Omg, you're insane." I said while laughing.

"GET OUT!!!! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!!!" My mom yelled from downstairs.

We look at each other confused as we get up from the floor.

"JUST LEAVE, OK!! WE DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE!!!" My uncle yelled.

We walked out my room and to the stairs. We stayed upstairs.

"Mom, why are you-" I said while walking downstairs with Emma.

I was shocked to see who was at the door.

"A-Aaron??" I said.

I started to remember what happened some weeks ago, the last time we had contact. I start to breath in and out like if all the oxygen in the world disappeared.

"Veronica, breath in....out.....in.......out." Emma said and I followed her steps. Aaron tried to get close to me but my uncle stopped him.

"What are you doing here Burriss??" Emma asked rudely.

"I came to see her." Aaron said.

"You have no rights to see her after what you did." My mom said while stepping in front of me.

"But I do-"

"The door is behind you. I think you know your way out." My uncle said.

"Just please....... please Veronica, I'm begging you. Please show me what I did to you." Aaron said.

My mom turned to me and I nodded. She moves out of the way and I lifted up my shirt.

His eyes starts to fill up with tears when he saw my stomach full of scars.

I looked down at my stomach and it hurts me to see what he did to me. I put my shirt down and ran upstairs. I didn't want to see him anymore.

"VERONICA!!" Emma yelled while running behind me.

I walked inside my room while hugging my stomach.

"Veronica, please don't cry. I know it's hard for you because you loved him once in your life." Emma said.

I sat down on my bed.

"I-I.... did loved him. He didn't even care about my pain w-when...... he puts the cigarette on my stomach. I thought he was different, not like.....
Nathan." I said and Emma ran to me and hugged me.

"No Veronica, don't say that. Nathan crossed the line with your life. He went way to far." Emma said while hugging me. (You will know more about Nathan later on)

I started to remember what Nathan did to me. Tears started going down my face.

"Veronica, don't worry. He is where he is suppose to be." Emma said.

"Yeah but what if he gets out of jail. He will looks for me. He warned me. Emma, I'm so scared." I said while hugging her tight.

"Veronica, you have us. He will never touch you again. We'll protect you. I will promise that." Emma said.

"You know between Nathan and Aaron, Nathan is way worse." She said while hugging me tight.

We laid down in my bed and fell asleep

I'm really happy I have Emma as my best friend. She is the best.
