“Charlie?” Calum called after Charlie dismissed the group.
“Yes, Calum?” Charlie smiled. Ashton and Luke stood behind Calum.
“We would like to speak to you. About Mia.” Calum’s tone was serious.
Calum should see Charlie’s shoulders slump. It was hardly noticeable but Calum had become really good at noticing peoples actions.
“What about Mia?” Charlie pulled the best fake smile she could manage. Though they all knew it was fake, there wasn’t any point in faking it.
“We would like you to let her Out.” Luke blurted.
Charlie looked around at the now empty room, as if expecting there to be a spy or a hidden camera. There was nothing but a few empty chairs and a security guard hanging by the door.
“I can’t.” Charlie’s smile was gone. She all serious now.
“Why not?” Ashton grumbled.
“Because, she is a threat. She put one of my nurses in hospital. She doesn’t have control.” Charlie said firmly.
“Look around, Charlie, none of us have control. Everyone lashes out. Even you.” Calum raised his voice.
“I know but-“
“The meds don’t work. You are scared. You think she will lash out again.” Luke finished for her.
“Yes.” Charlie said glumly.
“Putting her in lockdown will only make it worse! She will become worse. The voices will become worse. She will lose it and the demons will consume her.” Ashton said forcefully. Charlie didn’t understand how bad this was. She could lose it. She could lose herself. Charlie thought this was all some sort of game, or experiment.
“Sorry, there’s nothing I can do. If I let her out this early she’ll think she can get away with hurting someone again.” Charlie stated.
“You don’t understand. She can control it. Putting her in there will make her lose control.” Ashton raised his voice.
“I’m sorry. I really am.” Charlie said before picking up her clipboard and making her way out of the rec room.
“If you’re sorry you would compromise and let her out!” Calum yelled after her.
“Mia, let me in!” Preston was banging on the other side of the iron door. He was trying to give her Lunch but she wouldn’t accept it. She didn’t want Preston in here. She could seriously hurt him in the state she was in.
Mia had pushed the bed against the door, hoping that it will hold. “No! I don’t want to hurt you!” Mia yelled through the buzzing of angry voices in her head.
“You won’t! Just let me in! You need your medicine!” Preston grunted. She could tell he was trying to push the door open with the whole force of his body by the strain in his voice.
“I will! I will! I will!” Mia repeated.
Are you going to do what you did to me? Toby asked, or what you did to the kids at the orphanage? Or will you do what you did to Miss Yancy?
“STOP!” Mia yelled.
“I’ll give you an hour to cool off!” Preston yelled through the door, “But I’ll be back.” He had finally given up. This had been going on for quiet a while. She guessed that Preston finally came to the conclusion that she wasn’t going to back down.
