It was the next morning, and Ashton was extra giddy. Like a kid on a fucking sugar rush, and Calum hated it. He hated all the happiness, and smiles, and love because it wasn't for him anymore. It was for Alex.
Even though all along this was the plan, find Ashton love. How could Calum be so stupid, he had two very simple rules. And he broke both of them.
Ashton nudged his arm, "Remember brother, we're not fake dating anymore so you can go back to resenting me at school." with that Ashton left the room, giggling to himself.
Brother? That word stabbed Calum in the back, and he felt like it was hard to breathe. And really, did Ashton have to rub it in his face again that they weren't dating anymore.
Once Ashton was gone, a scowl formed across Calum's face and he began muttering to himself about how much he hates Alex, and that life sucks.
Calum drove today, instead of Ashton, who had been driving them ever since the fake relationship started. So it was strange when they went to pick up Michael and Luke and the boys saw Ashton in the passenger side.
"Why is Calum driving today?" Michael asks curiously.
"Because it's my car." Calum growls, instantly making Michael shut up.
Once they arrived at school, Alex was already there, waiting for Ashton. Calum rolled his eyes as he slammed the door of his car shut.
"Hey Ashton!" Alex smiled widely.
Ashton immediately jogged over to him, grabbing his hand. "Hey babe."
And there it was. Babe. The word tugged at Calum's heart strings, made him want to curl up and hide from the world, because Ashton no longer called him that anymore.
Michael and Luke came to stand next to Calum, watching as Ashton and Alex were all over each other. However, soon Ashton was taking off with his new boyfriend.
"We'll catch up with you at lunch." Ash waved and left.
"Why the hell did you just let your boyfriend walk off holding another boy's hand?!" Michael sputtered.
Calum took a deep breath, he promised himself he wouldn't be affected by this, but so far he was. And it hurt like hell.
"He's not my boyfriend anymore..."
This time Luke was the shocked one, "What do you mean?"
"I mean," and Calum didn't even realize his voice was beginning to shake. "He broke up with me last night."
"What an asshole!" Michael spat. "I'm gonna kill him."
Calum shook his head, willing himself not to cry even though his eyes felt watery. "No, it's fine- I'm fine. He's happy, and we should be supporting of him."
"Yeah, but he dumped you, and moved on to someone new the next day. That's a pretty dick move." Luke replies.
"I don't want to talk about it okay? I'll see you at lunch." Calum stormed off.
-
Calum was no longer sad at this point, he was just mad, or jealous. Maybe both. And even though it was risky, he wanted one thing.
To have Ashton back, this time for real.
So when Calum had a whole group of boys, surrounding him trying to get his number, he made sure to rub it in Ashton's face.
There was basically a whole lunch table dedicated to Calum, next to the usual lunch table he sat at with Michael, Luke, and Ashton.
Ashton and Alex joined Michael and Luke for lunch, Ashton peered over at the table curiously. "What's Calum doing over there?"
"That's a line up for all the boys trying to give their number to Calum. Look how many of them there are, you were lucky he chose you out of all those boys." Michael answers him sourly.
"And then you took it for granted, and dumped the best thing you ever had. Good job, dickhead." Luke added.
Ashton was a little shocked, not really knowing what to say. He didn't expect to get so much hate from the 2 boys. He also didn't expect there to be a whole table for people trying to get in Calum's pants.
"You poor thing, I can't believe someone would break such a beautiful heart like yours." A boy says the Calum.
Calum tries his best to smile, but also puts on a bit of a show by acting sad. "Thanks Tommy...I just wish I knew what I did wrong. Ashton's happy though, so I should be happy for him."
"Screw Ashton." Nate shakes his head. "I could treat you so much better."
In his whole life, Calum never thought he'd have this many guys hitting on him at once. He was flattered, but all he really cared about was getting Ashton jealous, so he'd want him back.
Ashton watched from a far as people handed Calum their numbers on tiny pieces of paper. Alex tried to distract him though.
"So Ashy how was class?" Alex smiles.
"It was boring as usual...is Calum going to eat with us or is he gonna stay there the whole time."
Alex sighs, "Let him be. I think he's having fun."
Ashton nods his head, focussing back onto his new boyfriend. "You look good baby."
Alex rolls his eyes, "Shut up I already know that."
The two boys kiss, leaving Michael and Luke to glare at them in disgust.
