FUCKING LISTEN TO THIS SONG! I found this song on a happy accident and it actually relates to the chapter and what it's all about! I love Mac Demarco!!!!! Fudge!

Do you all remember from a far, far time ago? When all was so simple after the longest and complicated time? I have a special boy for you to meet and I don't think you know him well enough.

Year 10

Valentina Kowalski-Lopez woke up early in the morning tired eyes yet bushy-tailed, being a mother left her with barely any sleep but on this day she cherished so much more than any day in the world; it is her son's birthday. Her dearest Noah who meant the world to her, the boy is turning eleven years old after all. The blue-eyed woman crept past her sleeping son's room and down the halls where the light shone on her latte colored skin making her wince once the sun's natural light came into contact with her sensitive eyes.  She ignored it and kept walking as she made her way into the fridge, that the previous night into the midnight she baked a birthday cake while the boy had slept and that was the only time she could make his cake with him asleep and not being to newsy. He loved mama and he loved her cakes.

Valentina poked and spread about 10 blue candles on the white and grey rose decorated cake. It was something he liked, he never saw a grey rose before and only one existed, they were bred and only one came out of the bunch that was spliced. Valentina took him to the horticultural museum and the young boy's eyes brightened up; Noah always admired things that were unusual. A grey rose is one of those things that were out of the norm much like the boy himself.

After she lit all the candles a smile was brought upon her face even as she was haunted by the thoughts of her little boy is a year older. She couldn't bear thinking of one day him going out into this world, not being able to protect him from miles away, or if anyone would love him as she did. She almost wanted to kill someone just thinking about some girl touching on her son, she'd kill that person if she had to, her little boy was her's alone. No one wanted him, his birth mother didn't want him, the grandparents didn't want him and the doctors were appalled. In fact, when the hospital knew that she hadn't come back after being ordered to kill the child they didn't make it a case or bring Valentina in question as to why she didn't execute the order in the fears of them being under the charge and various lawsuits they let the woman go.

Eliza knew the little monster would be out in the world and frankly, she couldn't care less as long as she never had to see the thing again. The thing that was like him... It's father. But to her, the nurse, his only mother the boy wasn't a monster but a blessing where they are now tucked away on a little beach house in California. Yes; the same state as where his birth mother and siblings now reside as well and he'd never know is what the nurse had told herself all along.

Valentina gave knocked the door lightly before coming in and singing "Happy Birthday" to her son in Polish. The door was dim and the boy was groaning.

He turns to her and yanks the lamplight cord. "mamo!" when the light reached Noah's young and sleep-ridden face she smiles and sits the cake down on his desk, caressing his pale cheeks. She gets on her knees before her son's bed.

"wszystkiego najlepszego z okazji urodzin mojej miłości," she tells him in a motherly tone that softens his peaky eyes.

Happy birthday my love

"dziękuję mamo, dzień dobry," Noah replies.

Thank you mama, good morning.

"Zrobiłem twoje ciasto tak, jak wiedziałem, że śniłeś, mam nadzieję, że ci się podoba," Valentina says as she clutched onto his small hand, peppering it with small kisses many times over. She turns and takes the cake waiting for him to blow the candles.
