Author POV
After landing and catching a Lyft the two were almost home, their second home of course. Noah sat in a car looking outside the window as he ate a donut and hot chocolate; in Pennslyvania it was chilly, Maybe not yet in California they didn't need hot cocoa. He enjoyed it too.
Mama sipped on her coffee as she watched Noah took around himself, the mountainside of Pennslyvania. She could see how happy he was already. . . that was all that had mattered anyways; well that and her well being. It had been two years since she and her son had come to the cabin. They always both loved going out to get ice cream at their favorite parlor too, she hoped it was still open. It would have disappointed Noah if he couldn't have his favorite red velvet chunk ice cream. That or the park not too far away, he would play laser tag with mama for hours it seemed.
When the car stopped so did Valentina's thoughts of not disappointing Noah. "we're here mamo!" Noah jumped. He dashed out of the car before it could come to a complete stop.
"Noah!" Valentina cried. Jesus Christ, that boy of mine. She thought. "sorry please forgive my son." she added.
Noah went up the cabin then, inside. The cabin was just as he remembered, it resembled the same size or model cabin as the stone house of the dwarfs from Disney's "Snow White", yet the house was much more minimal than that. It was unframed glass windows of all kinds of shapes, the doors were made of stainless steel and had wooden handles, it was made to look like a fortress up front but on the sides, it was more like an Iceland nook. Something out of an aesthetics magazine for home improvement/ remodeling.
It took a pretty penny out of Valentina's pocket, a small dent in the fund she had set up for Noah but she fixed that too and now she owns a small piece of land in the woods to have this cabin all to herself. It was impossible to get into, despite as many times as the silly teens would come into the woods year round and find shelter in the house they always faltered to get into her second residence.
This was the place Noah loved, he never wanted to part from it but life was in California. Valentina promised Noah that he could have it for his own if that's what he ever wanted to do, he wouldn't need to find property unless the cabin wasn't what he desired.
The man came out of the car with Valentina to help her with the suitcases and bags, after they both lugged away everything to the stoop of the house the driver tipped his hat and pulled off. She paid him via phone. "would you do me the honors scout?" she asks her son.
Noah typed in the keypad the passcode to the cabin. The doors opened before them, almost knocking Noah back. The two of them went into the cabin, settling their bags at the door. The place needed some dusting but other than that the conditions were liveable. The furniture was covered up so that Valentina never had to do much dusting and cleaning. " let us have a seat first before we do kiddo, it's been a while," but it was almost dinner time. They didn't have too much time to sit down and relax before cleaning up their cabin.
While Valentina needed a break Noah was still full of energy, the six-hour flight hadn't made him jetlagged in the slightest since he had all his sleep on the plane and then was instantly perked up by his hot chocolate with donuts. If anything the sugar and the flight combined made it worse, he into the pantry where there had been plenty of cleaning supplies. He took out the broom, duster, paper towel and window cleaner.
He wanted to get the job done so that he and mama could go into town later on. They still had to buy food for the duration of their stay even if they didn't go out to dinner every night. They had a fully operating kitchen that worked well. Everything worked so well because they barely used anything.
