The next time Fae saw Reggie was lunch time. She walked out of the school and into the courtyard where everyone else was sitting. She stood there unsure of herself.
By now Fae had made many 'friends'. Her favorites included: one Jughead Jones, whom was much like herself; Cheryl Blossom, whom had taken her under her wing the moment she saw her; and Betty Cooper, she was a nice girl. But if she was being honest Jug was her favorite. He was quiet and the loner type. He also made her laugh, a lot.
Looking through the courtyard she saw Betty sitting at a table with jug, a red headed boy whom Fae did not know and Kevin. Fae had met Kevin a few days after arriving in Riverdale. Faes father and Mr. Keller were great friends, they worked together. Fae thought Kevin was nice enough but they had not really hit it off.
Fae decided she wanted to sit with jug. As she fixed her bag on her shoulder and walked in his direction she got knocked down, again. Fae quickly looked up to find Dilton Doiley standing over her. Her eyes widen as she scrambles to get up.
Fae had met Dilton earlier in the day, he was in her first class. Dilton had made several snarky comments about her. He had tried to make her feel stupid and inferior to himself, it wasn't working. Fae was brilliant and she knew it. If there was one thing Fae was confident about, it was her superior intellect.
Dilton scowled down at her. "Watch it Moore!" He hisses at her. Faes eyes widen even more if possible. She wasn't expecting him to lash out at her.
Before she can stand Dilton is being pushed away. "Don't talk to her like that Doiley. It's not her fault you're a psycho freak who likes pushing women around. I think Dilton here owes Fae an apology don't you Jason?" Reggie defends the girl.
Reggie looks away from Dilton down to the small girl. His scowl quickly turns into a small smile. Reggie holds out his hand for Fae. She looks between his hand and his face. Then places her soft delicate hand in his. Reggie hauls her up, she stumbles and he is quick to steady her. "Careful princess, wouldn't want to fall."
Fae blushes and looks down. "Thank you.." her voice is soft and timid. She doesn't see it but Reggies smile grows wider.
"Well, Dooley, apologize to Fae. You're the one who ran into her and knocked her over. Then you snapped at her for something you did. " Jason is quick to jump in after his friends request.
Doiley glares at Fae but gives in "sorry Fae. Next time I'll watch where I'm going. Wouldn't want to knock over Reggies little princess again. It might not end well next time." Dilton spits at her. He is quick to walk away before the boys can retaliate.
Fae frowns down at her shoes. "You didn't have to do that. I can handle people like Dilton." She tucks her bangs behind her ears and looks up at Reggie. He can see she's upset but he doesn't want to call her out.
"It was nothing. Come on, you can sit with us." Reggie offers and he gestures to a table behind Fae where his friends are already sitting. All of them already eating and joking around.
Fae looks from them over to Jughead. She frowns but shakes it off. "Alright, I owe you for saving me anyways." Fae sits at the end of the table slightly away from the rest of the boys.
Reggie is quick to sit next to her. "You don't owe me anything. I'm glad I could help. If you let me I'll always be your hero." He flexes his arms trying to show off his muscles to her.
Fae giggles at him and his antics. "I'm not impressed" she jokingly says. The boys around her howl with laughter. Fae shrinks back slightly from the sound but not enough to make it noticeable.
Reggie places a hand over his heart in exaggeration. "You wound me princess. And here I thought we were friends."
"If that hurt then you really need to work on a few things. I can't have a wuss being my hero." Fae giggles as she jokes with him.
