The next morning Fae was quick to get out of the house. She hadn't slept well at all. It didn't help that the moment she stepped out of her room she smelled eggs. She had hurried to the bathroom and thrown up what was left in her stomach. While she was there she showered and got ready for the day of driving.
Fae had made quick work of packing up the truck. Reggie had complained about her taking care of the bags. She had just glared at him and it shut him up instantly. Luckily for him he had showered after brealfast, or he'd been walking back to Riverdale, Fae had actually threatened him when he went to check on her, the smell of the eggs on him making her sick.
"Alright, we are ready to go." The smile on Faes face would not waiver as she patted the truck seat for Ambush. He jumped into the truck.
"Are you sure you don't want to stay until you're feeling better?" Erika asks as she watches Fae.
"We can't, I have to get Penny and the colt settled and there's so much work to be done with the house and the barn needs to be rebuilt. But thank you for the offer." Fae forces a smile.
"It's no problem at all." Erika pulls Fae into a hug and Fae gags as the smell of eggs once again hits her. She pulls away and smiles at Erika before getting in the truck.
Fae was happy to be on the road. Mostly because there was no Erika, but she also couldn't wait to get home. She missed Logan and her bed. Fae really truly missed her bed. Fae yawns again for the 15th time in the past half hour.
"Did you sleep at all last night?" Reggie asks as he turns down the radio.
Fae shrugs and looks out her window. "Not really, the bed was beyond uncomfortable. Plus, every time i started to fall asleep Ambush would growl at the door. I swear he thought someone was trying to break into the room."
Reggie snorts and looks down at Ambush. "He has been extra protective lately. Maybe you should talk to your dad about that. We don't want him growling and nipping at everyone that comes near you when the baby comes."
"Ambush would never hurt the baby Reg, if anything he's more protective because he knows I'm pregnant. Dogs can sense things like that."
"Still, i'd feel better if you talked to your dad about it. He's the one that's been training him to be so protective." Reggie says as he takes Faes hand in his and brings it to his lips. He kisses her knuckles softly. "I just want to protect you two."
Fae smiles, "I know. I'll talk to my dad when we get back, alright?" Reggie nods and kisses her knuckles again. He holds her hand the rest of the drive.
Fae smiles as Reggie pulls the truck into the driveway and parks it. He shuts it off and Fae is out of the truck before he can say anything. Reggie laughs and gets out, stretching his legs. He's quick to move to the trailer as he sees Fae start to bounce towards it. He unlocks it and pulls down the ramp.
Once the ramp is down Fae is in the trailer untying her horses. She releases the colt who is quick to make his way to the grass and she backs Penny out slowly. The moment Penny is out she whinnys to any horses around but gets no response.
"Don't worry old girl." Fae pats Penny's neck, "Starlight will join you soon enough." Fae throws the lead line onto pennys back and let's her graze the grass of the front yard. Fae knows she won't go far. All she has to do is click her tongue and Penny will come find her.
Sweet Pea, Fangs and Toni make their way over. Fangs is instantly drawn to the colt. He tries several times to get close and catch it but with no luck. The group laugh as they watch Fangs with the young colt, who now thinks it's a game.
"Watch," Fae says to Toni and she pushes past Fangs. She sits down in the grass and crosses her legs. She clicks her tongue. Penny looks up and makes her way to the girl. She snorts into Faes hair then starts grazing around Fae. The young colt stops what he's doing and slowly makes his way to Fae. He doesn't get close at first, but it doesn't take long
before he's in her face. Fae smiles and pets his neck.
