Fae sat silently as the doctor rubbed the wand around her stomach. She was trying to determine the sex of baby Mantle/Moore. That was a thing now baby mantle/Moore. Melinda had officially made the unborn child her grandchild. The three had discussed the last name for an hour one night and they couldn't agree. Fae wanted the baby to have her last name, Reggie and Melinda thought the baby should have theirs, so for now the baby had both.
"Little baby just won't stop moving." Abby smiles as she moved the wand into another position.
Melinda sighed, she and Jen were sat next to Fae. They both had wanted to be at this doctors appointment. Reggie was standing holding his girlfriends hand, he had made it clear he wasn't missing this appointment either, no matter what his father said.
Fae giggled as she watched the baby move away from the wand again. "We may not get a sex today." Abby said as she tried again.
"Come on little man," Reggie crouched down and started talking to Faes bump. He was now doing it more often and not just when he thought she was asleep. "I wanna know, it's killing me." Fae laughed at her boyfriend.
"Keep taking, maybe you can keep his attention." Abby smiles as she adjusts the wand again.
"I have to know if your a boy or a girl. I can't very well let your mother paint the nursery with flowers if you're a boy. No, stars for my little man, flowers for my baby girl." Fae sniffles as she listens to Reggie. Lately every time he calls the baby his she gets emotional.
Jen smiles as Melinda links their arms together. They're both going to be grandmothers soon. Both are beyond excited, they had shown up at the house one day while Fae was there looking at ideas to finish painting the baby's room and demanded they all go shopping together to get what Fae didn't have. They had gotten Fae maternity clothes galore since she was too big to wear her old clothes now.
"There we go, looks like baby Mantle/Moore is a little man after all." Abby smiles as she prints off the pictures.
Fae laughs, "I told you so. Men run in my family. I have four brothers and only one sister. Ashley has two sons no daughter and James has a son also. Many of my cousins have mostly boys of their own. The likelihood of me getting a girl was low."
Reggie rolls his eyes but smiles. "Yeah, yeah, you know everything." He leans down and kisses her lips.
"So I was thinking instead of stars it could be a forrest." Fae says as she sits in the middle of the nursery. "And we can put those glow in the dark starts on the ceiling. Well you can because I'm too short and I'm not allowed on a ladder."
Reggie smiles and sits next to her. "I think baby Ben will love it." He tries for the twentieth time to get Fae to agree on a name.
"Not happening. Benjamin is not a go." Fae smiles as she watches him sigh.
"Alright Ben Mantle is out. How about Matthew?" He sits down beside Fae who raises an eyebrow at him.
"No, I will not let you name my godson Matthew." Comes Toni's voice from the door.
Fae laughs as Reggie glares at her. "He's not even your godson. Fae choose Sweet Pea, I'm choosing Moose. Our baby is going to have two godfathers."
"Reg, don't be mean." She pats his arm then turns to Toni. "What do you think about a forrest with glow in the dark stars on the ceiling?"
"Id probably like it better if I was godmother." Toni pouts making Fae laugh again.
"Thats too bad Topaz, because you're not." Pea smirks as he walks past her and over to Fae. "I think it's a great idea Smalls." He tells her and he leans down and kisses the top of her head. That was a new thing between them. Pea had suddenly started kissing her head and hugging her more often, their relationship just seemed to keep getting better. Especially after she asked him to be the baby's godfather, he was her 'brother' after all.
