False Hopes

Five people now are facing each other at the conference table.

Someone cleared his throat and asked, "Would you care to explain what we just saw a while ago?"

Alyssa and Den exchanged glances and the latter answered, "L-Lolo Miguel, Alyssa and I, well... we were just talking—"

"Just talking?! How can you talk if your lips are glued together? Talking in between kisses? Ganon?!" said the older woman.

"Tita..." Laura tried to stop her Tita Coline. Laura, her Tita, and Lolo Miguel were supposed to talk in the conference room about a certain project when they walked in to the kissing Aly and Den.

The old lady stood up with anger in her eyes. "Laura Victoria! How can you remain calm?! Niloloko ka na sa harap mo nagbubulag-bulagan ka pa! This is unacceptable!" And Coline stormed out of the room.

Laura stood up to follow her aunt to explain but Alyssa quickly caught her hand. "Lau..." she called softly. Den got surprised with the reaction.

The former just looked at Alyssa with eyes brimming with tears. She just sadly smiled; gently removed Ly's hand from hers and left. Napahilamos na lang ng mukha si Alyssa.

"I know you are a good kid, Alyssa. But what you did was wrong—"

"Lolo, Ly and Lau are not together. It's just all for show," Den defended Alyssa.

"I'm not yet finished. Kayong dalawa actually, mali ang ginawa niyo. Lalo ka na Dennise."

Den getting frustrated, blurted out, "When was it ever wrong to fight for your love?!"

"Oh let me see, young lady. Kapag may nasasaktan at natatapakan kang ibang tao?" Miguel asked sarcastically.

Parang mabuhusan naman ng tubig si Dennise sa narinig. She suddenly can't say anything.

"Ly, did you see the lady's face? You hurt her," stated Lolo Miguel as if it wasn't obvious enough.

Alyssa felt guilty because yes, alam niyang nasaktan niya si Laura. Especially that she already knew about what the girl feels for her. Ito rin ang madalas niya kasama lately. Hindi naman siya nagpapaasa but she really enjoys Laura's company lang talaga. In fact, they were supposed to go to the movies tonight.

"And you Dennise? Wala na ba kayo ni LA? Hindi ko yata nabalitaan yan."

And Dennise, once again, got tongue-tied.

"Look. God knows I am happy to know that you two still love each other. I ship you hard guys dati pa. For sure matutuwa din si Luis nito. Fans kami ng love story niyo e. Akala kasi talaga namin e wala ng chance," and for a moment nakalimutan yata ni Miguel na pinapagsabihan niya yung dalawa dahil sa kilig. Napakunot tuloy ang noo nung dalawa.

Miguel noticed so he tried to regain his composure, "Ahem. What I mean is, it's nice to know that you still feel the same way and you two are being honest about it. Pero, I believe that you are grown individuals now and alam niyo kung anong dapat gawin if you want this to work. Den, talk to LA. He has been so good to you after all. Be fair to him... and to Alyssa also."

And Den suddenly realized how selfish she has been. With tears in her eyes, she softly said, "I'm sorry."

Alyssa reached for Den's hand under the table and mouthed, "It's okay."

Alyssa swears that she's the happiest to hear that the girl she had never stopped loving still loves her too. She could feel her heart about to burst from happiness and love when Den pulled her for a kiss. But they are now being slapped with their reality that Den isn't free. At may mga nasasaktang tao dahil sa kanila. She knows there are things that need to be fixed before anything else. At alam niya sa sarili niya that she will patiently wait for Dennise. Alam niyang mas mabigat ang pagdadaanan nito but she will never leave her.
