Ryan and I finally got home with Blake getting a 10 year sentence, 3 years of that because of my testimony.
Ryan was all smiles for the rest of the trip, telling me how proud he was of me for doing what a lot of people couldn't. His words made me honestly feel happy that what was done was done.
All I could feel was relief.
Relief of the trial and relief to finally be back in the city and to get to sleep in Ryan and I's bed for the first time in a week.
Ryan loves the break from work, having only been in song writing mode up to the moment we took off for Columbus. I could tell he needed this time because he hasn't stopped smiling since we landed in Columbus.
But being home wasn't a stress to him, he was ready to get back into writing with a fresh mind. On the flight home, he kept making me listen to samples and see my reaction for the beats. Of course I listened, turning away my book every time I heard "hey babe?" quietly beside me.
Adam and Emily picked us up from the airport, wielding smiles and a "Mr. and Mrs. Pearson sigh" as a joke.
"The sign was Em's idea," Adam laughed, hugging us.
"Hm, that is a good idea though." I said, looking at the poster
"What is?" Ryan said, throwing our bags in the back of their car.
"When we get married," I said. "Mr. Ryan Pearson."
We all laughed as Ryan gave me a confused/disgusted look at he shut the trunk of the car.
"When we get married," he said walking over to me, wrapping his arm around me. "Then we will talk about last names."
My heart fluttered when he said 'when' instead of 'if', symbolizing the hope we both have.
"You two are too cute," Adam said. "It's sickening sometimes."
"Shut up Adam," Em said, playfully slapping him across the chest. "At least they've got marriage in mind."
"See, look what you started, Ryan." Adam laughed.
"I'm not the one that made the sign," Ryan said and they both started laughing.
"Men," Emily said, crossing her arms beside me. "What are we going to do with them."
"Who knows," I laughed and we both got into the car and drove to the apartment.
*
"You guys wanna come up?" Ryan asked through the window of Adam's. "I've got some samples I worked on on the plane that I think we could work with."
"We would but we've got a conference to attending up town," Emily said on the passenger side. "We've all got to go out one night, maybe see a show?"
"Love to," Ryan said. He slapped the roof of the car. "See y'all later." And with that, they drove down the road.
"Well, Mrs. Pearson-Metzger," He said, putting his arms around me. "I think the couch, a big bucket of popcorn, and some movies are calling our name, don't you think?"
"I think you're calling my name," I said look up at him with a smirk.
"Okay, on that note let's go upstairs," he said and grabbed the two suitcases. He ran up the stairs, going two at a time. I lagged behind him, laughing at his enthusiasm.
We opened the door and Ryan threw the luggage to the side and attaches his lips to mine. We couldn't stop smiling and laughing at him as we kissed.
I ran my fingers through his hair as he pushed me against the door, slamming it shut with my back. His hands gripped at my hips as he continued to kiss me rough.
"Ryan?" I heard Jack from down the hall. Ryan pulled away and looked towards the hallway.
"God dammit," Ryan whispered. "This wasn't in the roommate agreement thing we signed."
Jack appeared from the hallway in just his boxers. He looked around, confused.
"I thought you guys weren't coming home until tomorrow?" He asked, rubbing his eyes.
"We thought we'd get an early flight for cheap," I said.
"Jack, who is it-" I heard a too familiar voice say. When I looked at the hallway, Jess walked out in Ryan's shirt.
"What the hell?" I said in shock.
   "Holy shit," Jess said.
"Holy shit," I said back. We both stood there in shock.
"Yeah so," Jack said, clapping his hands together. "This happened, uh."
   "When?" I asked.
"April," Jess said, more like a question than an answer.
Ryan busted out laughing, soaking in the moment as it happened.
"You guy-" He said in between laughs. "She say-you did-what the hell!" He was busting out laughing now, about in tears.
"You guys have been sneaking this for two months?" I asked laughing myself.
"We didn't know how you guys would react," Jess said, putting one arm around Jack. Jack put his around her.
"Holy shit!" Ryan said, doubling over now. "Two months?"
"He's jet lagged," I said, defending my boyfriend as he kept laughing.
"Should she sign the contract then?" I laughed. "Because I guess 'cockblocking' wasn't listed."
"Hey," Jack said, pointing at me and smiling. "It's a fend for yourself type of thing when it comes to that."
   We all laughed.
"I'm just still wondering why you're standing here still in your boxers, Jack?" I said, crossing my arms and letting out a laugh.
"God dammit!" He said under his breath and ran towards his room.
"So that happened," Jess said smiling.
"Two months?" I repeated to her. "You've been fucking my boyfriend's brother for two months without telling me?"
"Hey," She said getting defensive. "We've don't more than just fuck, thank you very much."
Ryan perked up with a serious face and looked at Jess.
"Oh my gosh," Ryan said, putting pieces of a puzzle together in his head. "You're 'I'm leaving to go to the gym' excuse."
"Don't expose me!" Jack yelled from his room, sounding as if he was struggling. Ryan continued his laughter
"You guys are so dysfunctional," I laughed and grabbed the two suitcases and headed towards Ryan and I's room.
