Aliera lead me into a cave. It should have seemed dark but it was little up by all the sharp crystals. I turned to her.
"Who are you really?" I asked cautiously. She rested Emily onto a thick pile of dry straw.
"I'm half human half dragon," she said. I bit my lip.
"So can you turn into a dragon or only sprout wings?" I asked.
"I can turn into a dragon but unlike normal dragons I can take a human form," she explained.
"Why can't the dragons change shape?" I continued.
"I'm not entirely sure but I think it's because it's like you trying to trying to turn into a cat, you just can't do it no matter how much you wish for it," Aliera pointed out. I nodded.
"Very true...so have you always been able to change into a dragon?"
"No, I was only able to change only a few mouths ago on my 16th birthday." We didn't talk for a while and sleep ran over my eyes. "It would be the best to be half dragon," I thought weakly.
The sunlight shone into the cave and pried my eyes open. The river down bellow looked like the blue crystals in the cave. Only when the sun was fully up I could see how high up we were. A hand rested on my shoulder which made me flinch. Aliera sighed and blinked a few times. I could just see the small town which was my home. It felt like if I fall I would float like a leave and land safely. The idea scared me because I wanted to test it. Aliera gripped me more tightly like she read my mind. It felt nice to feel safe when danger was so close like if I took one step I would walk right into it. Emily cried behind us and Aliera let go of me. The wind twisted through and out of my hair making it fly behind me. "I have tasted flight twice now which makes it harder to stay on the ground," I thought. "God! I would even jump off a cliff to taste it again," I stated.
"What was that?" Aliera asked from the end of the cave.
"Nothing don't worry," I tried reassured her it didn't work. She walked up to me.
"Your family may be missing you," she guessed. I snorted.
"Never in a million years would they miss me," I replied.
"Well someone may be," she whispered. I sighed.
"Aliera my family doesn't care about me if they would I wouldn't have Jess as a friend," I pointed out. Aliera flung me around.
"At least you have people who care about you! In my world...in both worlds I'm classified as a freak! People are scared of Dragons...people are scared of me"
"I'm not, Jess isn't, Mia isn't, we all love dragons to the core,"
"You just trying to make me feel better,"
"No I'm not, you don't realise it but I have longed to be a dragon for as long as I have lived, I have tasted flight and it is sweet, I'm struggling to keep myself on the ground right now," I finished. Aliera smiled.
"Ok, ok well you better go back home." Her wings burst out of her top and flew to the cloud. I smiled. "She doesn't realise how lucky she is."
