I was let out of the hospital that night with a cast starting from my foot and just above my knee. I didn't go back to Jess' ether. I knew she saw me and I was afraid she would get suspicious about me so I went back to Beck's. I slept in a spare bedroom next to his. It felt like I moulded into it. It was the best bed I had ever slept in. When I woke up I realised I had to go to school. I grabbed my crutches after I got dressed and walked into the kitchen. Already on the table was some pancakes. Beck was at the stove making a few more.
"There is some maple syrup if you want it," he gestured to the bench.
"You know you didn't have to make me breakfast," I pointed out.
"On the contrary you are my guest so I must," he replied. I giggled and sat down. "Jess was calling you non stop last night, I was going to tell you but you were asleep and I didn't want to wake you." I check my phone and saw all the missed messages. I but my lip and started texting.
Hey sorry i didn't get your calls
She replied instantly.
Why weren't you at school yesterday?
I stared at the text.
Long story tell you today
Jess didn't replied so I turned my phone of and ate my pancakes in silence. Beck sat next to me. He smelt like wolf and so did I. I didn't think anyone would notice but who knows? I could tell Beck still felt bad for the night before. I kissed his cheek.
"I thought we were over that?" I asked. He stared at his pancakes.
"I know but every time I looked at you I get this horrible feeling in my stomach...sorry," he whispered.
"It's ok well we better get going or else we will be late," I said quickly. Beck grabbed my crutches and we walked to his car. He opened my door and I hopping in. The morning was cold and ice covered the front window. The house was covered in frost and so was the lawn. I rested my forehead on the cold window and took a deep breath. Beck held my hand.
"Hey it will be alright," he explained smoothly.
"I don't want to lie to Jess...I don't know what to say," I replied. Beck started the car.
"Then don't say anything or you will have to lie," he said. I knew I had to lie but what else could I do? We were silent the whole way to school. My phone buzzed.
"Hey Ti when are you coming to school?" Jess asked.
"Now we are nearly there," I explained.
"Wait what do yo..." I hung up the phone. A smile stretched across my face. I looked at Beck and he squeezed my hand.
"What are people going to think?" I asked. Beck knew what I was saying.
"That we are the beauty and beast," he smiled.
