"What happened back then?" Jess asked with her arms crossed.
"I don't know what you're even talking about," I pointed out. Beck had disappeared somewhere but that didn't bother me. At least not to much to show.
"I mean how did Beck know your name? You said you didn't know him? Are you lying to me?" Jess asked. My head throbbed as it did when she asked so many questions. I sat down on the grass and rested my head on my hand.
"Jess I don't know him and I don't know how he knows me, and I swear I heard him say something like nice to see you again or something like that, Jesus I don't know!" I cried. Jess sat next to me.
"He likes you I could tell," she said smoothly. I looked back up at her with hopeful eyes.
"You think so?" I asked.
"Yes, they way he looked at you, the way he stared at you..." Jess paused. I suddenly thought about the glimmer of yellow I had seen in his eyes.
"His eyes," I said. Jess tilted her head.
"His eyes?" She repeated. I shook my head.
"I swear I saw Beck's eyes shimmer gold," I explained quickly. Jess patted my back.
"Ok girl I think we need a serious sleep over," Jess suggested. I shook my head again.
"I don't want to go home right now,"
"Well you can sleep over at my house tonight and until the weekend,"
"Wait you mean miss a day of school for nothing?" I asked. Jess giggled.
"Ti you haven't written one word in you book for humanities, only your pen been resting on the books pages I don't think you'll do more than that tomorrow," Jess laughed. I giggled a little.

I didn't bother to tell my mum that I wasn't going to be home for a while but I doubt she would notice. Jess and I walked to her house. It wasn't as long as you would think. Calum walked up behind up and pushed through us sending Jess and I to the ground. I rubbed my knee.
"What where you're going Calum!" I screamed. Calum turned to me. Everyone behind us were frozen like statues.
"Maybe you shouldn't get in my way," he replied smiling wickedly.
"In your way? You just pushed past us like a train, we would have moved if you had asked," I pointed out. Calum went pale and continued walking.
"Coward!" I yelled but he didn't tune back. I took a dead breath.
"You ok Jess?" I asked. She slowly nodded but I could see blood dripping from her knee. I closed my eyes. Blood made me feel sick even though it coursed through my body to keep me alive. Jess got up and stopped in her tracks. I opened my eyes back up and saw beck holding his hand out to me. He had the smile that made my insides go all gooey.
"Are you ok?" He asked as his smile faltered.
"I...I don't know," I hesitated. He laughed. I grabbed his hand and he slowly lifted me up like I was feeble butterfly. Jess pushed between us.
"Let's go Ti," she demanded. I stared at her.
"Um...ok...thanks Beck," I replied. Beck nodded and smiled at us both. He waved before we continued our walk.

"Why does Calum got to do dat?" Jess asked. I shrugged. Me head hurt rom the fall and blood soaked through my sleeve around the elbow.
"Tell me for real, are you ok? You look a little pail," Jess repeated.
"My head kind of hurts and my elbow is bleeding like crazy," I explained. Jess bit her lip but didn't continue.
