Chapter 4 - I Hate Scary Movies!

Ever since the bathroom incident, I made sure to go to the bathroom before Dan could. He really was a pervert, and one day, he would walk in on the wrong moment, if you know what I mean.

Our first day had gone okay, but today was our second day. Hopefully, we wouldn't kill each other. We had been pretty lucky yesterday.

I woke up and scurried to the bathroom, hoping to find Dan sleeping. Luckily, he was and I managed to wash my face and brush my teeth before he could wake up.

I slipped into my room and shut the door. I changed out of my pajamas and into a short sleeved T-shirt and jeans, tying my hair into a ponytail and spraying on some perfume.

What will I do today? I wondered, heading to the kitchen. Today is my first day of non-stop fun. Should I ask Dan....?

I made myself a bowl of cereal and sat on the sofa, flipping through channels. I landed on the news and was just in time to hear the story of the day.

The anchorwoman looked serious. "Residents of twenty seven Marble Street and sixty eight Piker Mills are to be warned about a burglar on the loose."

I raised my eyebrows in shock. Our apartment was on 27 Marble Street.

"The police are trying to catch him and so far, he's broken into three homes. Also, residents should be aware when walking alone late at night."

The anchorwoman started talking about a fire somewhere far away, and I was a little worried, after listening to the report. A burglar? On the loose? What if he broke into our apartment?

"Why do you look so scared?" Dan asked, and I stifled my scream. I glared at him, breathing in and out.

"When did you wake up?" I demanded.

"Just awhile ago," he answered. He glanced at the T.V and back at me. "Did something happen?"

"There's a burglar on the loose," I blurted out, shaking slightly in my seat.

He raised his eyebrows. "Really," he said. "That's....bad."

"Do you think he'll rob us?" I shuddered at the thought of encountering a burglar. "He could also be a murderer!"

"I wouldn't really think about it too much," Dan said, heading into the kitchen. Of course not; he was a guy and could everything. He didn't know how it was, being a frightened little girl who was defensless against robbers!

I sighed shakily and finished up my cereal. I stood up and headed to the kitchen where Dan was busy making himself waffles.

"I want some!" I wailed, the sight of them making me hungry all over again.

"Didn't you just eat cereal?" he asked skeptically. "Fatty."

I scowled. "Cereal doesn't fill me up!" I washed the bowl and pouted. "Please! Pretty please! Pretty please with sugar on top!"

Dan made a face. "I don't like sugary things."

"Oh...Then pretty please with salt on top?" I tried, shrugging helplessly.

He laughed and handed me a plate. "Alright, fine. Since you insisted." I grinned and waited for him to finish making the waffles. Ten minutes later, he dropped two waffles on my plate and poured some syrup over the top, also adding some butter.

I was about to take a bite until he stopped me. "No wait! Not yet!" He took a strawberry and placed it on the top. "There."

I rolled my eyes and finally, dug in. And boy, did the waffles taste good! I mean, they tasted like normal waffles, but I just liked the taste of waffles....well, you get what I'm saying.
