Mae steps out of the shower, today was an eventful day for her. The rest of the night she was hoping to just relax. She changed into her pajamas and stood in front of the mirror. She wore a big black shirt and gray heart shorts. Taking a brush, Mae brushed her short, copper hair. She walked out of the bathroom to see Penelope and Conor talking. Mae thought that he left after dropping her off at Penelope's house.
"Hey Mae, Conor needs to speak to you," Penelope said, her tone was a mixture of excitement and seriousness.
"Can we talk at the balcony?" Conor asked. Mae just nods as Conor led her to the back door. Both of them walked outside, she remembered the time they both sat out there talking. She got curious about what he had to say to her.Conor took a big sigh before starting, "I've been thinking about what Molly said."
"Don't let her get to your head," Mae told him.
"I know, but now I'm starting to think. I should take a risk and try dating again." Conor took a pause, before adding. "But not just anyone, someone honest, cautious, and committed."
Mae nod, understanding what he's saying.
"I just need someone like you. No one took advantage of me when I'm with you, something tells me you're the one" Conor finished, waiting for a response.Mae was astounded by what Conor told her. She didn't know how to feel but she had to let something off her chest. "Before I can give you an answer, there is a big secret I've been hiding from everyone. We need to bring everyone here" Mae told him. Conor looked at her confused but went with what she said. Both of them walked out but Mae was the one to speak. "We need to get everyone here," She said. Penelope looked at Conor confused, he just shrugged in response.
Ashley, Darrel, Pj, Allen, Libby, and Toby were sitting on the couch. Penelope and Conor were explaining that Mae has something important to tell us. Mae was in her room, pacing around, trying to relax. It's hard to believe she was going to confess the truth. Part of her trusted them, but could she really rely on them to keep her secret.
Mae walked down the stairs, everyone's eyes landed on her. "Mae? Are you alright?" Penelope asked. She looked up and said, "yeah, I just need to get this off my chest," Mae explained as she stood in front of the TV. Everyone said nothing as they just stared at her. "Truth is, I don't have amnesia. I'm actually a siren" Mae confesses. Everyone stared at her with blank expressions. "But, how?" Conor asked.
"You don't actually believe this!" Penelope stepped in."Out of all the wild things I've heard of, this must be the worse," Penelope said.
"I agree, this is a stretch" Allen
"Let Mae continue, so how did you become a siren?" Pj stopped them.
"Legend says, a broken heart is weak and easy to manipulate. You could kill your self after a broken heart, or a siren can trick you by creating an exchange" Mae explained. Penelope rolled her eyes, she couldn't believe that her friends believe her."How did you become human?" Conor asked. Mae sighed she hated to admit what would happen. "I had to exchange my position to a human. There is a song that I sing to lure people in. Then I had to confirm the exchange with a kiss, so the human lost all his memories and becomes a siren" Mae explained, feeling guilty. "I'm out of here" Allen grabbed his stuff and started heading towards the door.
"Wait, I know what happened to Nelson! And we can find him" Mae quickly said. Allen stops at his tracks and turned around. "You aren't trying to trick me, are you?" Allen questioned her.
"Please tell! I must know" Libby joined in.
"I suspect that he's a siren now" Mae admitted.
"So we can see him again?" Allen asked.
"Yeah, but he won't remember any of us," Mae said.
"We need to find him, tomorrow we walk along the beach for clues" Libby stood up.
"I hope you're right about this" Pj said as he also got up. Everyone seemed to believe Mae except for Penelope but there was nothing she could do about that."I'm tired of this" Penelope said before walking into her bedroom. Mae watched, not knowing what else to do. Conor grabbed Mae's arm and pulled her away from the crowd of people. "Does that explain the song you were telling me about?" Conor asked. Mae was ashamed to admit it was. "I was using it to attract the other sirens," she told him. Conor just nods, realizing that everything that has happened to them gave a clear sign she was a siren.
"Thanks for telling me this, but I still want an answer to my previous question," Conor told her. Mae's face heated up, she couldn't imagine after spilling something this big Conor would still want to be with her. "I would love to date you, but could we go slow?" Mae asked, so much has happened to her a slow pace would definitely be enjoyable to her. "Don't worry, I would like that too" Conor confesses.
"Hey, Conor! Do you want a ride?" Pj asked, jiggling the car keys in his hand. "Yeah," Conor said but then turned back to Mae. "Wanna work together while we look for Nelson?" He asked her. "Sure" Mae blushes as Conor waved before joining Pj. She wanted to hide her face but it would make her look too obvious. Mae heard giggling, she turned her head to see that Libby was watching her. Libby panicked as she got up to grab Ashley, "Let's go now!" Libby ushered her towards the door.
Everyone was gone except for Allen. "Mae you're our only hope to find Nelson. Please do all you can, we miss him desperately" Allen said to Mae before walking out the door. Mae only stared as she thought that Nelson was very important to Allen. She didn't know what it is but she just knew that Allen and Nelson must be reunited.
Mae went straight to her room. She was upset that she couldn't convince Penelope and suspects that she wouldn't want to help out while they were searching. Still, it was good that other people trusted her and would help find Nelson. It seems like mission impossible but she needs to at least try.
