Chase's POV
The loud screeching of the metal door sounded and I was prodded with the stick out into the open. This time, there was no crowd, only the two cloaked figures, and the headmaster, standing with his many golden bracelets and rings. HIs arms crossed authoritatively over his chest as he watched me through narrowed eyes.
I limped over to stand beside another 3 people, who I assumed to be green, yellow or a mix of the color. The cloaked figures head moved with following eyes. The headmaster turned to the cloaked figures who were eyeing me and spoke in a hushed voice.
One figure made a few movements towards me and drew a bag the jingled with coins out of a large pocket I hadn't seen. The figure pulled the drawstring and showed the headmaster. I could see the color of gold glistening in his eyes as he nodded eagerly. He took it without another word, tightened the drawstring and motioned to someone behind us.
I whipped my head around to watch as two people came forward and towards me. I growled at them and my wolf huffed in agreement to my mental prep in an attack. I realized then, that the connection between my wolf and me was quite fuzzy. I took a quizzical look at the wristband and quickly realized that was where the interference was coming from.
I snapped out of my thoughts when my hands were forced behind my back and someone in front of me shoved something that looked like a leather muzzle fit for a dog, over my face. The smell of kneaded leather filled my nose and I sneezed. A low growl built in my throat and claw replaced my nail. I got one hand free and twirled around, swiping at the man behind me. I skimmed his cheek and the red marks left there made him back off.
While I was going through my head on how to get out, the other person, whom I identified as male, locked my hands in place behind me with a rope that rubbed my wrists. My claws scrabbled at the rope behind my back but it was too thick to cut through. With a huff, I succumbed to my fate as I pushed to my knee's in front of the clocked people.
It was incredibly hard to breathe through the muzzle and I sent deathly glares at the people in front of me. Even without my sense of smell, I knew that the one was a stronger stone than me, seen as I could sense the overbearing power poor off them in waves, and the other was a lesser one. If I were to escape, they would both overpower me heavily. Not to mention the type of rope that was set around my wrists seemed to block any magic I wanted to use.
The lower tier placed a hand on my back, in between my shoulder blades and walked me out of the building. We entered the forest with thoughts rolling around in my head. We stopped suddenly and I turned my head around to watch what was happening. The higher tier raised a hand to their mouth and blew out a long whistle. We waited for a few seconds before a light blue, almost white dragon, with light golden stripes, descended from the sky and landed before us heavily.
I took a frightened step back but was stopped by the lower tier. They untied my wrists (which had rubbed red marks) and pointed at the dragon. Perched on the dragons back was a light leather saddle, handcrafted with a dark leather back and an intricate pattern of gemstones encrusted into it.
The lower tier pushes me forward lightly, and I wiggle my way up and sit on the saddle. I don't know what, but I feel I can trust these people. The higher tier just jumps from the ground, onto the saddle and sits comfortably in the front dip of the saddle. I look down and notice handlebars in front of me. This saddle was designed so that three people could ride perfectly without having to clutch onto each other it seems. The lower tier scrambles up behind me with difficulty.
After getting situated the higher tier gently pressed their foot into the side of the dragon and we lifted into the air. The air pushed on my body and I gripped the handlebars with a little bit more force than necessary. I turned and looked over my shoulder to see that dreaded building disappearing into the everlasting distance.
As soon as a relaxing atmosphere entered the air the higher tier threw her hood off and I got to see a bright smile and violet eyes I had been so worried about. I think my face contorted into some sort of shocked expression because Saphire broke out into a fit of laughter that was followed by Devon seconds later. I turned sideways to look at Devon with the same appalled expression.
My jaw worked as to get words from my mouth, but before I could say anything, I was wrapped in a hug from both sides. "Miss us?" Saph snickered pulling back to take the reins on the dragon. I pointed down at the dragon, "He's yours?!" I asked incredulously. She rolled her eyes, "Her name's Ajax." She chirped patting her dragon who in turn pumped her wings, and we soared higher in two powerful flaps.
I gulped down a lump in my through from the air pressure and hugged her back, even though there where handlebars. "Holy fucking god..." I muttered, my throat was clogged with emotion. "I literally love you guys..." I murmured and was hugged from behind by Devon. Saph was looking at me with overwhelming emotion in her sparkling violet eyes.
I let out a sigh and leaned back into Devon. "You guys take forever," I commented dryly, causing Saph to bark a laugh. "Oh wait, Devon guess what? I get to tell you off now~!" She sang and I felt Devon stiffen then groan.
"Please don't." He warned her, she shook her head, "Chase~, you'll never guess what happened after you left." She snickered, her eyes narrowing dangerously. "Devon left me the ransom note, and his chicken scratch writing on the same piece of paper, before jumping out the shattered window and leaving me all alone." She put her right hand to her forehead dramatically and glared at Devon who grumbled something under his breath.
I turned to him, shock plastering my features. "What?! Devon!" I decided to play along with Saph as her body shook with withheld laughter. I turned crossed my arms over my chest like Saph and frowned, "Your sleeping on the couch for the next week!" I struggled not to smirk as Devon groaned again. "I hate you." He grumbled and I put a hand to my chest in fake hurt.
"Oh, you must! Seen as you rescued me from a betting ring," I smirked happily at him while he slumped in his saddle seat. Ajax gave out the equivalent to a dragon laugh, making me smile fondly. I missed them.
(Hey guys! Chase is back! The next one or two chapters won't do anything for the plot but will develop the characters more, and help relationships grow.
With that, I'll see you next time! Don't forget to Comment, Vote and Share!)
