LIAM's POV

As much as I preached about not liking Sapphire and her little gang, I was warming up to Devon a bit. And a bit was talking a lot. He tolerated my existence. I mostly stuck with Jack of course.

I bent my head slightly to sniff at one of the winter roses tucked next to a tree root. We had decided to keep camp for another day because of the intense training session they had yesterday. Apparently, I misplaced my invite.

Lifting my head back up to pad back toward camp in my wolf form, I slowly realized that I might have got... a tad bit... well, I was very lost.

I sat down to think, thumping my tail on the ground slowly as I stared at my dark grey paws. Why was everything impossible today? If I were in human form, I'd be pouting. My mind slowly went back to this morning,

....................

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Chase stomped over to my crouched form a dead set scowl on his face. I'd been sifting through a bag that they had brought, hoping I could borrow something warmer because it had snowed during the night again, and I was cold.

I frowned at him and stood up, "just looking for something warm. I was hoping one of you bumbling idiots had the common sense to bring a fur coat or something." Ethan grumbled his silent agreement in the back of my head.

He glared and shoved me to the side, I stumbled backward and got to my feet unsteadily, "no, if anything you should freeze to death. You should have brought something warmer for yourself!" He snapped.

I felt my own anger bubbling in my chest and Ethan growled, most likely making my eyes glow. "Those are some pretty petty words and opinions you have blondie," I snipped getting heated, "you better be prepared to fight tooth and nail for that fur you little shit!" I snapped, a growl lashing as my nails shifted into claws. Chase followed my example, his eyes flashing a startling neon yellow color.

We growled and started circling baring teething and getting ready to strike. "Woah, Woah, Woah, what's going on?" Devon and Jack came up. Jack looked nervous and tense while Devon swept his dark brown locks back to scowl at the both of us, arms crossed.

"He was snooping through one of our bags for something warmer because he said he was cold!" Chase snapped and pointed an accusing finger at me, "God knows what he was really up to." His eyes glared and I growled again.

"You're just being a petty son of a bit-"

"My mother is a wonderful woman you mutt!" Chase snarled in a sharp tone and took a threatening step forward.

"So, you kiss her with that filthy mouth then?" I shot back resorting to comebacks.

"Ok! Stop!" Devon caught our attention before pressing on the bridge on his nose looking tense and exasperated. "Chase, you're in the wrong here, he just wanted something warm-"

Chase let out an abrupt sound of protest, "You're taking this assholes side?" He exclaimed in disbelief, flickering eyes show emotions of betrayal and hurt. Fair enough. I was an asshole. I frowned at my own thoughts and shifted my nails back, crossing my arms around my middle and settling with an annoyed look while Devon went up to Chase and began to explain why he was in the wrong so his feelings wouldn't be hurt.

I shoved my hands into my jean pockets and glared at him darkly. Jack came to stand next to me, sending concerned glances at me out of the corner of his eye every few seconds. When Chase started glaring at me again, I shot him one of my own then turned away and aggressively stomped into the nearest tree inning.

Jack stumbled to catch up to me as I weaved through a few trees. "Liam!" I heard him stumble slightly, "Lee!" He put a hand on my shoulder to stop me. I shrugged him off and turned to glare at his face. He flinched slightly, "Devon is sorting it out, ok? Can you please come back to camp? Saph will be back soon and we can all talk about where we're going next and-"

"Jack," I cut him off, "do you honestly think that they want to hear my opinion?" I spat, my anger clouding who I was speaking to, "if you want to go back, and be all buddy-buddy with them, be my fucking guest." I shoved him away from me.

With an abrupt crack of bones and ripping of muscles, I shifted into my wolf, bared my teeth at him, telling him to stay and jogged into the forest to cool off.

And I defiantly, was never, ever, going to think of the hurt on his face. Never even crossed my mind.

..................................

I let out a whine and laid in a patch of green that the snow hadn't managed to cover. 'Damn idiot. Should have just accepted your friend's help.' I closed my eyes and fought off the sad feeling that came with seeing Jack's hurt face and stood up again, backtracking to hopefully get back to camp.

..................................

I pressed through one of the thicker bushes to emerge at camp after what seemed like hours. Chase had finally cooled down so he was sitting by the fire talking to Saph and Devon while Jack paced around by the dragons impatiently, stopping every few seconds to mutter something to Admiral. The poor drake looked so confused but worried about his rider's concerns.

I decided I was better off in wolf form when I wasn't running my mouth and getting into trouble so I walked up to the other side of the fire and laid down. The three on the other side noticed me but said nothing and Jack's increased pacing continued.

I curled up to keep warm and watched Jack out of the corner of my eye. He looked increasingly worried as the seconds went on. I lifted my head to let out a sharp bark and his head snapped to look at me. He stumbled over his own feet, but eventually (with a few choice swear words) he made it over and promptly sat down next to me.

"Where were you?!" He demanded trying to seem angry, but really all there was in his gaze was a pure worry. I shrugged and his eyes hardened, "tell me where you're going next time please." He muttered with a sigh, shoulders dropping slightly

I nudged him lightly with my nose as an apology. He patted me lightly on the head with a sigh and sent me a small smile. I lifted my head and laid it on his knee chuffing slightly.

(A/N Being inspired helps sooooo much! Songs help a lot. I'm thinking about putting the songs that inspired the chapter up above instead of pictures. (Like what I do with BAT). What you y'all think though?)
