"How was class girls?" I asked my friends as we sat down at our usual spot for lunch. "Mine were okay, I just have work on my part of the paper for next week." My friend, Alyssa Fern said. Alyssa was one of my best friends and she just so happened to be part of the school newspaper.
So therefore we are one of the first people to hear about the gossip around the school. I turned to my other friend.
"My classes were boring as usual. But no homework thankfully." My other best friend Emily Harper said. Emily was part of the school's volleyball team.
"I have homework for science but that's not due until next week, but I can turn it in anytime between that." I stated.
"Well, Have you guys heard that Melissa and Brian were caught kissing in the janitor's closet?!" Alyssa said adjusting her black, thick-rimmed glasses. "Omg, I heard about that. Is it true?" Emily asked. "Of course it is. I checked the security footage." Alyssa chuckled.
"Alyssa, you have to stop sneaking into the security office." I said rolling my eyes. Alyssa was one of the good girls—to the eyes of an outsider.
But if you actually knew her. You'd think she should be sent to a military school.
"Anyway, has anyone caught the attention of any boys recently?" I smirked. "Ugh. No. Jayden keeps teasing me and he simply flirts. But that's it." Emily sighed.
My friends and I weren't the most popular out of the sea of fish but if anything the popular kids didn't hate us and actually enjoyed talking to us whenever they had a chance.
And even though my friend was flirting with one of the most cutest guys in school it didn't make us move a level higher in the popularity rank.
But I'm okay with that.
"Hey ladies." I turned my head to see Ethan with Sadie and Kevin—speak of the devils. Ethan, Sadie, and Kevin were part of the "most popular" group and me and my friends happen to be friends with them. But I knew why Ethan was here.
"Hi, guys." I waved. "So, Riley, have you done the math homework yet?" He asked me. I put my backpack on my lap and dug through the papers that were scattered in it.
They sat down at the table. "Here you are, friend." I said giving Ethan the homework. "Thanks, friend." He said back.
"Hi, Emily." Kevin smiled. "Hi, Kevin, how's your day?" Emily asked. Almost everyone knew that Kevin liked Emily. Emily chooses to ignore it but sometimes she'll play with him.
"It was good. How was yours?" He asked. "Mine was good. But you do look nice in that hoodie, if I do say so myself." Emily smiled. Kevin's cheeks brushed with a light pink. "Thank you." He smiled.
"Okay, girls. Listen up. Taylor and I are throwing a party this weekend and you guys are invited." Sadie said eating a grape from the Ziploc bag she was holding. "Wasn't there one last week?" Ethan asked. "Yes, Ethan. Yes there was." Sadie nodded.
"Parties aren't my thing. Remember last week? I got stuck in the pantry?" Kevin sighed. "That was funny." Emily smiled.
"Well, too bad. The party's at Taylor's. So this time you won't get locked in the pantry." Sadie smiled, throwing a grape in Kevin's direction.
"So who's coming? I heard that Taylor's dad got an arcade room on Monday!" She said.
I thought about it. This week was the end of my first benchmark test for English and it was pretty hard, so I guess I could celebrate.
"I'm in. Anyone else?"
"I'll go. But only to write my segment." Alyssa nodded. "I'll go." Ethan said. "I'm going. I need a break from my benchmark." Emily yawned.
