*Riley's POV*
Coming back from getting something to drink I saw Peter and Ruby talking. Ruby looked amazing and a lot better than me. Then what I saw next made me die inside. I saw Ruby kiss Peter...
I felt a stab of hurt in my chest. Then they began walking away together. I felt tears brim in my eyes and I tried not to cry. Stopping them I began my search for Emily and Alyssa.
Finding Emily by the food table Emily said, "Riley. Why are you blue?" I laughed. She was clearly drunk. "Have some." she said holding her cup up to me. Without really thinking I took the cup and swallowed the liquid. It burned down my throat.
"Woah..." I said trying to stop from spinning. "Have some more. I don't want it. I'm getting something else." she said brushing me off. "Okay." I said. I downed the rest of the cup and Emily came back with a cup and bottle in her hand. "Have some of this." she slurred.
I took it anyway and downed that cup. For the past five minutes Emily and I were drinking from left to right. I soon got use to the burning sensation. "Well you look pretty tonight." A voice said coming up behind me.
"Thanks." I slurred. "Want to get out of here with me?" the stranger asked. I giggled. "Sure." The stranger then dragged me away from Emily. Everything after was a blur.
*Peter's POV*
"Do you see her anywhere?" I asked Ruby. We began looking for Riley and we couldn't find her. "Maybe she's outside with her friends." Ruby suggested. We then went to look outside. Searching around I saw Riley pinned to the wall while she was kissing some guy I couldn't see the face of.
"Is that Riley?" Ruby asked. "Yeah..." I gulped. "Hey that's Xavier. Didn't they break up?" Ruby said. Suddenly it snapped in my head. Walking over to them I pulled Xavier off of Riley and Ruby took Riley off to the side.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I shouted at Xavier. "Oh please. She was clearly enjoying it. Why do you always have to ruin everything." Xavier said. "Leave Riley alone. She doesn't love you anymore." I said. "And it's not like she likes you any better." Xavier called as I was walking away.
Feeling upset at his comment I turned around and punched him. Xavier staggered a bit and fell to the floor. "Leave her alone." I gritted through my teeth at him. I then walked back over to Riley and Ruby. "Peter, I think she's drunk." Ruby said. Riley then hiccuped.
I groaned. "I'll just take her home." I said. "Okay. I'll see you on Monday. I'll tell her friends what happened." Ruby said. "Thanks." I said. I then dragged Riley to the parking lot and I drove to Hunter's house. I am not taking Riley home drunk.
Parking the car I opened the door for Riley and helped her get out. Getting her inside I noticed Hunter wasn't home. "This is a pretty house." Riley said slurring her words together. "Thanks." I said. I led her to my room and I sat her down on my bed.
Sitting down next to her I sighed. "What am I going to do with you?" "You're cute." she giggled. I know that whatever she said wouldn't mean anything because she had no control over it it's just I felt butterflies when she said those words.
"I'm thirsty." she whined. "Alright. I'll be back. Just stay in here." I said getting up and leaving the room. Going downstairs into the kitchen I got a cup of water for Riley. I honestly don't know how I feel about babysitting her. About to leave the kitchen I dropped the cup spilling water everywhere.
I'm such a disappointment.
I then went and found a towel to clean up the water. Once that was done I got more water and went upstairs. Going back into my room I found Riley looking at a picture on my dresser. "Got the water." I said handing it to her. "Thanks." she said as she sat down on the bed. "Is this your mom?" she asked referring to the picture. "Yeah. She left a while back." I said as she set down the picture.
I then sat down in the spinny chair next to my desk and began scrolling through my phone. A few minutes later I felt Riley sit down on my lap and straddle my waist. "What are you doing?" I asked immediately. "What do you mean?" she giggled. She then took my phone and placed it on the desk.
"You look nice tonight." she said. "Thanks." I gulped. What she was doing was scaring me a little. I've never done this with a girl and at the moment I don't want to. Her arms then wrapped around my neck and she brought herself closer to me. "Do you like me? I mean like really like me?" she asked as she brushed her lips against mine.
I didn't answer. My mind felt blank as I couldn't really process the question. "Peter?" she asked. I nodded my head as I didn't know what else to say. "Peter." she whispered into my ear. "Yes?" I asked.
She guided my hands to her waist and wrapped her arms around my neck again. "I think I love you." she whispered against my lips. I closed my eyes as I couldn't really believe what I was hearing. She's drunk. She doesn't mean it...right?
I've heard that when people get drunk they have no control over what they say and most times what they say is true. Suddenly I felt her lips against mine. Without hesitation I kissed her back. Her lips felt soft and I could taste the alcohol she had. She began kissing harshly and I felt her hands grip and tug at my hair.
I let a moan slip out my mouth and I could feel a smile on her lips. Then she began trailing her kisses towards my neck. She began sucking and biting at my skin. "Riley..." I trailed. "Yes, baby?" she said. She began sucking at my neck again and I knew I had to stop this before she went to0 far.
"Riley...Riley...Riley stop. Please." I begged. She then stopped and looked me in the eyes. "Do you not like it?" she asked. I didn't say anything. Did I like it? "Riley. We can't." I said instead. "Why not?" she asked as she cupped my cheek. "Just because." I said. "But, I love you and you love me. Isn't that what people who love each other do?" she asked.
"Uh...Um." I stuttered over my words. She was making this difficult. "You're drunk. If we did this then I would be taking advantage of you. And I'm not one to do that." I said. "You don't love me?" she asked softly. She was missing the point.
"I never said that. It's just we can't." I said looking into her eyes and brushing a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "I understand..." she said looking away. "You should get some sleep. I have some clothes for you if you want to change." I offered. She nodded and got off of me.
As I went to my dresser she sat on my bed and began to play with the hem of her dress. Taking out a pair of sweats and one of my sweaters I gave it to her. "Here. I can take you home tomorrow morning." I said. She nodded. As I was leaving the room she called for me. "Peter?"
I turned around. "Yeah?" I asked. "I'm sorry." she said. "It's okay." I smiled weakly at her. I then left and shut the door behind me. Leaning against the wall I put my hands over my face. That almost happened... Was stopping her a good thing? I wonder if I didn't stop her how far she would've gone. Trying to forget it ever happened I went downstairs and laid down on the couch.
At least she'll forget about it in the morning.
