*Riley's POV*
I turned my phone off. A bit annoyed that Alyssa made me lie to Peter and tell him that I "had to go" just to seem hard to get. I don't even like him. "That was uncalled for." I said shaking my head. Alyssa laughed then checked her phone. "It's 5:30. We need to get going for Emily and Sadie's volleyball game."
"Alright. Who's all going?" I asked. "Ethan, Kevin, and I think Tracy and a bunch of other people." Alyssa said. I nodded. I'm pretty sure I could physically see the light bulb pop above Alyssa's head as she got an idea. "You should invite Peter." she smiled.
"What? No. What if he's busy." I said biting my lip—something that I do out of habit. "Oh, it's Peter. What else could he be doing?" Alyssa chuckled. "I hate you." I said opening my phone again and texting Peter.
Riley: Hey, I'm going to our school's volleyball game. It starts at 6:00. Do you want to come?
Alyssa looked over my shoulder and we waited for his reply. "Do you think he'll answer?" Alyssa asked impatiently. I laughed and nodded my head. My phone beeped and Alyssa squealed. "He replied!" "Calm down." I laughed. I opened the message.
Peter: Sure, I might be a bit late because of where I live.
Riley: Okay. It's a home game and you don't have to pay. Just show your ID
Peter: Okay
"Alright, he's coming." I sighed. "Yay. Your first school game with your boyfriend!" Alyssa laughed. "He's not my boyfriend. I barely know if he considers us friends." I rolled my eyes.

It was now 6:15 and so far the game was 3-0. Ethan, Kevin, Tracy, Alyssa and I were sitting at the top of the bleachers. Thanks to Alyssa they now think I'm "hopelessly" in love with Peter.
"Hey, Riley. There's your boyfriend." Kevin poked me and pointed to Peter coming towards the bleachers. "He's not my boyfriend for the last time. Now shut up and watch your girlfriend." I said. Kevin laughed and sat back.
"Hi." I turned my head to see Peter. "Hey, take a seat." I said guestering to the empty spot next to me. He sat down and looked at the scoreboard. "Winning already?" He asked with amusement. "Yeah, they're pretty good." I nodded.
About an hour later we were up by five and the score was 35 - 30. Throughout the game Peter seemed interested and confused as he kept asking questions. He always apologized and I just laughed it off because in all honesty it was cute.
The buzzer to end the game had rang throughout the gym and people from our school had cheered and shouted that our team won. Everyone was leaving and Ethan, Kevin, Tracy, and Alyssa were talking to Sadie and Emily while I stood by the bleachers talking to Peter.
"So did you like the game?" I asked him. "Yeah. It was crazy." He said referring to some close calls in the game. "Wanna come next week? I mean if your parents say yes." I said. "Definitely." He half smiled. He checked his phone and his eyes grew wide.
"What's wrong?" I asked. "Uh, I have to get home." He said rushed. "Oh, do you want a ride-" "No." He almost shouted cutting me off. "I mean, no it's fine. I can walk." he apologized.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow then?" I said. He played with the hem of his sweater as if he was thinking. "Sure." he gave a small smile. I was skeptical but let it slide. "Okay bye." "Bye." he replied then took off.
