One Year Later
Cassie
The buttery sunlight that streamed through the windows of my empty, soulless room were full of promise and change.Senior year and the remainder of junior year had sped by in a relentless fury of power and love, friendship and family.
It's funny how when we're children we expect our lives to pause as you would a show on television, and years later, you're standing in front of a empty room in the very beginning of adulthood, waiting to make that first step for your life to begin.
Closing my eyes, I inhaled and exhaled that smell of my strawberry perfume mingling with home, the scent bringing a flurry of memory back to me.
It was in this room where I aged over and over again, growing not just physically, but also mentally.
I could recall every memory that this room locked away, and I smiled through the tears of bittersweet melecholy.
I gripped on to my rose necklace I received from the love of my life a year ago, happy that I had such an amazing fragment of my life to hold on to forever.
Little eleven year old Jade would most definitely be a little lonely from here on out, but I intended to give her something very important to me before I left for college in only minutes.
Minutes. I only had minutes left.
"Cassie! The car is all packed!" Felix yelled from outside, pulling me out of my reverie of remembrance.
Me and Felix would be attending Oregon State University together, that way I could get my bachelor's degree in business and Felix could still play with his newly debuted band entitled Stray Kids.
Everything just clicked into place for the boys whenever we all got out of high school, making them finally spread their wings and getting a record deal.
Not to mention how each of us had fallen in love. We had all found love in a time of uniqueness, each story of love one to never be forgotten. Each of the guys found their soulmate, Jisung already engaged to his future-wife.
Sweeping my eyes once across the room, I walked out with only my memories holding me together, my smile remaining on my face as I walked outside, the September winds blowing through my straight hair coolly, my eyes landing on my family as I closed the door to the house, the house I had grown up in for eighteen entire years.
Mom and Dad stood in front of Felix's car, a mixture of unending sadness and unwavering proudness on their faces.
Jade stood next to Felix, a look of sadness on her face as she hugged my boyfriend, clearly refusing to let go.
