"She's intimidating and brooding," I said, eyes cold from the numbness that had long settled within my bones, "and she scares people away because she's not made of spice nor everything nice." He looked at me, his gaze calculating.

"So what is she made out of then?" I smiled, brushing a wisp of hair out of my eyes although they remained firmly planted on the ground.

"Fire and lightning, and everything frightening." If he was scared, he didn't show it and it pushed me to press onwards. "People see the smouldering flames and the raging winds. They think she's strong, powerful even," I let out a dry laugh as soon as the words left my mouth, little crystals falling from my left eye before quickly being followed by the right. He looked at me, calculating twinkle slowly forming a concerned crease. I looked away, unable to finish my sentence, "but what they'll never know," my voice broke but I forced myself to continue, "is that really, she just tends to burn herself down."
