The medal ceremony feels terrific. I stand on the top of the podium, proudly wearing my gold medal around my neck. Russia’s national anthem plays in the arena, and I smile my biggest smile ever. I remember something that my coaches said to me back in Colorado, though. And I’ll never forget it.
“Ella, you are a legend on the ice. Legend of the edge is your new nickname now,” I recall my old coaches saying to me.
Indeed, I am the legend of the edge. I can’t be any happier than I am now.
