They made it. They all really came for me. Shane kneels down and kisses my cheek.
Anna darts in the room and hugs me so tight my skin's turning violaceous.
Dr. Zhang comes in and everyone starts sitting down. He hands me a device and begins touching my implants.
My ear is pressed against this device. At first, I hear silence. But something's happening. I'm not sure what but something's happening that I'm not used to.
A Beep Beep appears. Wait, did I just hear that? Oh my God! I heard that!
"Kyra," a voice booms. I look up to see Dr. Zhang, he has a goofy smile on his face.
"Kyra? Did you hear the beeping?" he asks. His face is becoming blurry, not as if I was going to black out, but as if tears were falling.
I feel my cheeks becoming wet, shit! I'm crying.
"Sweetheart, did you hear the beep?" the voice booms again.
"Yes!" I sob out. Everyone's looking at me with wide smiles on their faces.
"Hi baby girl." another voice appears, it sounds different, lighter. I remember that voice from when I was two. That's my mom.
"Mommy!" I wail happily. She walks over and hugs me. I bury my head on her neck and I feel her soft lips brush against my hair.
I hear a boom boom on the ground. I look up to see him walking towards me.
"Hey." he says. He has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. I start choking on my tears.
"Oh my God! I can hear you!" I sob. Mom lets me go so I can lay in his arms.
"I know. What do you think? How do I sound to you?" he asks.
"Your voice is so beautiful!"
I can't believe it! I'm no longer the prisoner in the land of silence, I'm now free in the world of sonance.
