Day three in the hospital, oh joys! Not so much. Me and mum are walking to the hospital restaurant for lunch. I'm just hoping they have nice stuff there. The hospital meals are actually quite good, I won't miss them though.
"So do you think you're well enough to leave this evening?" My mum asks as we stand in the Que.
Doctor Russell said if I'm well enough, which he thinks I am, I can go later today. He said he'll come and give me a check up at four and then we'll fill out the paper work and go.
"Yeah, I think so."
"Good." She smiles sweetly. "What do you want honey?"
"Could I have... the jacket potato please and some coke?"
"Yes, with cheese and beans and not diet this time then?" She smiles. I normally always get diet coke.
"Yes please."
About two minutes later we reach the till.
"Can I have two jacket potatoes, both with cheese and beans and two large cokes please?" Mum asks the lady at the till, whose name tag reads Brenda.
"I'll get you're drinks and bring you your food to your table." Brenda says with a friendly smile.
When she happily gives us our drinks we go and sit on a table for two.
"So how has school been going?" Well she would show more interest now! but I guess at least she's trying, it wasn't really her fault before.
"It's okay I guess."
"When's you're next exam? have you been revising?"
"Yes mum, it's all I ever do pretty much! My next one is Wednesday, tomorrow." I snap at the start but then get calmer on the last sentence. Opps! Oh well!
"Okay. Good luck!" She says still smiling slightly. Urrgg don't make me feel guilty!
That's when our food arrives. "Here you go." Says some guy with gelled black hair. It says his names Chris. What, it's there! I may as well read it! I think I'm getting a habit of reading name tags...
I drink some of my coke and then start on my jacket potato.
"So have you heard from Kitty and Jase today?"
"Yeah they both texted me before school and Jase at break too." My spirits lift up talking about them.
"Jase seems nice." She says before eating a forkful of potato along with some cheese and beans.
"Yeah he is. He's awesome."
She laughs slightly then looks at me with a smile. "I'm glad you have him."
"Me too." But who does mum have? she only really has me. She only ever really talks to Mandy. She doesn't even live here anymore, she moved up north last year. I think they still text though.
"Do you still talk to Mandy?" I put my thoughts to words.
"Yes, sometimes. Most weeks actually. why?"
By the way, Mandy is my mums friend who has a boy whose about eleven now.
"Just wondering."
"April, what's on your mind? I can tell something is."
Can you now. Oh go away harsh thoughts! You don't need to be here!
"Will you miss him?" I come out with quickly and look up from my plate.
"Your dad?"
"Yes."
She goes quiet for a while.
"I guess so, in a way. We've been together for years."
She reaches across and touches my arm. "But it will be better now."
"Yeah."

"Well you're free to go! Now Mrs Lilic, just sign these forms and hand them into reception." Doctor Russell says before leaving the room.
"Thank you!" we chorus just before he leaves.
While mum signs the rest of the paper work I text kitty.
To Kitty
Hi! Mums just signing the paper work and then we're going!
Sent 4:21pm
"You ready?" Mum asks me.
"Yes." I say and we each grab a bag from off the bed.
We make our way to the taxi's out front, not forgetting to hand in the papers to the reception on this ward.
We get into a taxi and mum tells him the address. We spend the trip in silence and I stare out of the window, taking in where exactly we're going.
"Here we are." Mum says to me and we get out and thank the driver. It's on a long and busy main road. The building is four story's tall.
Mum leads the way and types in the code as well as unlocking the door. We step into the doorway and she unlocks another door.
"This place sure is secure!" I say.
"Yeah it is."
We go past the common room lounge, where other family's are sitting together. We go up in the lift rather than the stairs.
"We're on level one and our room is level 3, the second top floor, and room number 23."
"Okay." We go inside.
The room is small but there's quite a bit of space. It has a small TV, sofa, a desk and two single beds. There is then a door way leading to the bathroom, where there is a bath and shower in one and of course a toilet and sink.
