"Hey April." Jase says giving me a hug as I walk up to him.
"Hey Jase." I smile back.
"So, do you know what bus stop it is?"
"Yes. it's the one we pass on the way to town." I inform him.
"Okay, let's go." He says and we walk hand in hand to the bus stop.
Ruffly five minutes later the bus comes. they're are a few people we know but don't really talk to. We sit a few rows from the back, with me on the window side.
"So how was today?" He asks politely.
"It was okay I guess, yours?" it was kind of okay a part from the dark angels thing.
"Yeah it was good."
When we get to my stop no one from our school is on the bus. Well I guess it is a long way away. We walk for a bit until we get to the refuge.
"Okay, wait out here and i'll just drop my stuff in and pull on a pair of trousers." Obviously I can't ride Emily wearing a skirt.
"Okay." He says and gives me kiss before I disappear inside.
I get to my room and mum isn't there. okay, I don't really care. Just a casual thought, y'know. Seeing as it's just me in here, I just close the curtains and change from my school skirt into jodhpurs. I then pull on my riding boots. Rushing downstairs I get to the door and outside.
"That was quick."
Dark angels.
"Yeah, let's go it's this way." I say pointing to the direction we start walking in.
We have casual pointless conversations along the way. We get to the stables and go to the reception.
"Hi I'm here to ride my horse Emily." I speak to the person at the desk.
"Oh you must be April Lilic!" She smiles. "I've heard great things about you, i'll show you to Emily!" she exclaims and leads the way.
"Hey girl!" I say and pat her when we get to her.
"So what will you be doing? The two paddocks are in use. The third one is due a lesson in five minutes, you have to book a slot to use them."
"I know, my mum said i would be able to go in the woods."
"Yes! just be aware that there will most probably be other horses and riders there as well. If that's all you want then have a nice ride." She smiles and walks away. Her name tag read Molly, from what I've heard from my mum, she must be the owner.
"Ok I'll get her saddled up." I say looking to Jase.
"Okay." He nods.
It must be awkward for him as he's never been horse riding. Once she's saddled up I get on and then reach my hand out for him to take. Relatively easy (compared to how it could've gone) he gets on. I tell him to hold onto me we walk towards the woods.
"She's beautiful." Jase comments.
"Yeah, she is."
"How old is she? when did you get her?"
Dark angels.
Ignore April, Ignore.
"I got her when I was ten and she's nine years old."
"That cool."
Dark angels.
"Yep."
Dark angels.
We are deeper in the wood now, and I really wish whatever that voice is would shut up!
Dark angels!
Dark angels!
Dark angels!
Dark angels!
Dark angels!
"What, are you trying to tell me something?" I whisper.
What? That was meant to be in my head! It's like I can't even control what I say anymore!
"Huh?"
"Oh nothing!" I say a bit flustered.
"Are you feeling okay?"
"Yes, of course." I try to sound reassuring.
Yeah. Not sure that it worked!
Dark angels....
That time it's different. It's more sly and slow.
Dark angels!
And then that time it's quickly followed by evil laughing. What the hell? It sounds so real, I swear!
"April? what's up?"
"Did you not hear that?" I can hear that my voice is in a panic.
"What...? Are you okay?"
Then for a moment it's black.
And no I'm not passed out.
"What was that?" Jase asks a few seconds later when it's bright again.
"Oh so you saw that too. Okay maybe I'm not completely crazy!" I say laughing just a bit. I'm feeling hysterical! this is not right!
"April!" A real voice says from behind us and I know it's Alice-Lucy.
Emily turns around to her and proves that it is.
"Alice-Lucy! What's been happening?" I ask frantically. I can only imagine what Jase is thinking.
"Thank goodness you're okay!"
"April who is-" Jase try's to talk but I cut him off.
"From what? What happened on the weekend or the voices I'm hearing that say dark angels, that by the way seem to be taking over me, or from whatever in hell just happened now?" I fire at her.
"Well." She starts but doesn't continue.
"APRIL! WHAT IS GOING ON?" Jase shouts.
"Ooh. Angels. Dark angels. That stuff! This is Alice-Lucy who is Emily's guardian angel." I say causally but confused about what's happening right now myself.
"What? Wait? Your horse has an angel?"
"Yes dear, keep up. We aren't all bad you know." Alice-Lucy says gently.
Then it goes dark again but the sunlight doesn't come back. All that I know is that Alice-Lucy wraps her arms around us. Then I don't know what happens.
