I feel a sharp grip of claws on my shoulders as I get swooped up into the air. I reach out for tree branches to grab hold of. That doesn't work of course. I'm getting more and more tired by the second. What's happening? My vision is swaying and I feel really dizzy and like I could throw up. Next it's dropped me. The dark angel. All I can feel is that I'm falling and that the air around me is harsh and cold.
Dark angels.
Dark angels.
Dark angels.
I can't see a thing. Where am I? Did I fall asleep? I attempt to push myself up with my arms but I still feel weak. What happened? I try casting my mind back but it's useless. I jump slightly, a whimper escaping my mouth, as I hear twigs snap from behind me. Then I am enclosed in a loving warm hug. For a moment my mind is blank but when he kisses my cheek I know it's Jase.
"Jase! What are you doing here? How did you get here?" I quickly ask as I swiftly turn around and give him a proper hug.
"I woke up and Alice-Lucy told me that you went back here. She sent me so I could go and find you, are you okay?" He asks and I can hear the concern in his voice.
"Yeah. I think. I'm not sure but I hope so. Have you seen them? The dark angels I mean?"
"I came across one on my way here which I managed to finish it off but we need to make a move. I heard some not far from here and we don't want them to continue their rampage out of this woods. We need to act fast."
I nod and he helps me to my feet. Holding my hand, he leads me behind him and in under a minute we are back in the warming evening light. My guess is that it's 6:00pm. My mum might be starting to wonder where I am soon, but she knows how carried away I get when I'm with Emily.
Emily. Shoot!
Dark angels.
"Do you hear that?"
"Huh, what?" He looks puzzled.
"Something just said dark angels!" I plead.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were mental! Like literally going crazy hearing stuff in you're head!" He smirks and laughs.
"How funny! Well you do so shull-up!"
"Shull-up!" He mimics jokily. He thinks he's so funny, but my gosh he's hot!
Contain yourself April! Contain!
I get broken off of my thoughts as an devil black angel swoops down from are heads and in front of us! Stupid devils how dare they get the name of any type of angel! They just make me so angry and I can't get that old story out of my head!
Jase quickly whips out his sword. The dark angel starts to laugh in that mighty evil, devilish way of it's. Like really? You're really gonna come here and laugh? Now? Grrrr!
"Why can't you let people be happy?" I scream like there's no tomorrow, which seeing as this is the situation there might not be, I don't know about you but my book has another page to come! I pounce on the angel and kick it in it's chest, only to get thrown back instantly.
I was about to say ouch automatically, knowing that the hard floor would hurt, when Jase caught me. Not the ideal moment of course and not much time to think but I couldn't help it, my head felt so good against his chest for that one second. After that one second he made sure I was sat down and started slashing the angel with his sword. He was strong and all that but come on it's a dark angel. I could tell he was really struggling. The dark angel was fighting back flapping it's scorched black and deadly looking wings and whacking Jase with them. This caused him to become unsteady many times. Meanwhile I just stay there watching not having a clue what to do. I really wanted to help but I had no sword and fighting him empty handed wasn't going to work.
"Alice-Lucy I need help. A sword. I need a sword or something. Anything. Anything that I can use to help him." I mumbled quietly. Only I was able to barely make it out on top of the angels deathly high screeches.
I had obviously spoken too soon as the angel made the loudest most highest pitch ever. Jase instantly flew back from the sound waves and powerfully hit a tree.
"Jase!" I shouted over to him.
Just then was when I saw a golden glisten under leaves (I'm pretty sure the dark angels were the reason the ground was covered in green leaves. It's summer not autumn). I quickly fumbled for whatever it could be. Luckily it was a golden sword. After catching my grip I ran up to the dark angel as quickly as I could. Right before it reached Jase, I pushed the sword through his back and out of the other side of his front. Hopefully it went through his 'heart'. It let out a final more low pitched screech before collapsing.
I checked to see if it was dead which it must be. It looked like the golden sword went accurately through where his hearts meant to be (but I don't get how it could have one) and was already pouring with blood. I yank out the sword for (very near) future use and kneeled beside Jase.
"Jase! Jase! Babe, wake up!" Not to my surprise, that doesn't work with waking him up. I need to move him somewhere safe. The others will be here soon and I can't let them attack him.
