Matty's POV

"Tell them that I will call then back in about an hour or so. If I don't get a fucking green juice in my system right now, I will lose it." I tell Holly as I walk into the elevator.

"I will do that right now, sir. Again, I'm so sorry." She tells me in her same chipper voice.

God, it's annoying.

Really, i'm not annoyed with her. I'm annoyed with the fact that she can't listen to a single thing I say. Ever. So, I guess I am annoyed with her.

I watch the other halls as I drop down the elevator. I knew the glass elevator walls would be a good idea for the bottom floors. No one fucking listened to me, but I always knew it was a good idea.

My phone begins to ring in my pocket and I answer it, the voice on the other end being heard from the earpiece.

"Where are you? I just went to your office and you weren't there." Melissa tells me.

"I know. I am running down the street to try and find a green smoothie. Holly forgot to get one for me this morning." I tell her.

"I swear, that girl can't remember anything. You need to just fire her already." Melissa says, annoyed as always.

"I'm not going to fire her. She just forgot. She's usually really good about remembering things." I say, defending my assistant.

"You always defend her. I think we all know why." She says sarcastically.

"Stop." I say, groaning and pinching the bridge of my nose.

"I'm just saying. No one else would have this big of a problem over their assistant." She says in a sing-song voice.

"Melissa, I'm really not going to deal with this right now. I have a pile of work on my desk. Do you really think Holly is what I'm thinking about right now? I just want to get my drink and then finish this day so we can start our week in New York. Well, come close to starting it at least." I tell her, trying to defuse the bomb that is my fucking girlfriend.

"That's what I needed to talk to you about, actually. If you were in your office, then you would have already known." She says, still throwing every bit of shade that she can my way. I stay silent, not wanting to fuel that fire. "Anyways, I actually won't be able to go with you this weekend. There are some issues over at the finance department in Vancouver, and I am going to go over there to do some additional training. Apparently whoever trained those employees didn't do it correctly." She tells me.

Frailey and I trained everyone over at the Vancouver building.

"What? Hold on, we've had these tickets for weeks now. Literally you have known about this for weeks. Whatever is going on in Vancouver can wait. That, or my dad can go and take care of this. Just because he is talking about retiring doesn't mean he isn't available to help. He's right down the street. There is no need to go hours away for something that can be handled there." I explain.

"Matthew, I can't just ignore work so we can go on some silly getaway for a week. Things need to be done over there. My department is trained correctly, so maybe you need to talk to Kyler about getting her building trained up so we can actually go out and do things. I'm going to be over in Vancouver for a few weeks, that's the end of this discussion." She snaps back at me.

"Remember that the Vancouver building used to be my building. They are trained up perfectly. Whatever needs to be done can be settled from there. Frailey can handle it." I argue.

"Matthew, there are things that I have seen just from the paperwork that beg to differ." She counters. When I don't reply, she lets out a long sigh. "Listen, I'm sorry. You know I want to go with you to New York. But this is our business. We can't just neglect it because we want to go on some vacation. New York will always be there. This company won't be if we just treat it like it's nothing." She tells me.
