Matty's POV
"Man, all of those new interns are terrible. Absolutely terrible. Melissa has terrible taste in employees." Clarissa groans, taking another drink.
She's plastered drunk. Completely gone. She keeps leaning on Evan for support, and he is gladly accepting it.
"You've got to tell them how to work." Evan adds, agreeing with her.
"I mean I swear, Evan is the only one I can rely on to get the job done!"
Evan smiles at her praise, knowing she would never say any of this whole sober.
"Yeah, and Evan isn't even a permanent employee." I laugh. "And he's doing better than most of our permanent guys! Melissa just always wants to like...save them. She wants to build them into something amazing and then take all of the credit. It's a control thing, but it's just...draining." I tell them.
"Hey, maybe you should just stay with us forever." Clarissa says, nudging Evan.
"I think I should apply for extension." He says casually. I think he should, too. I want him to meet Frailey, too. They would get along so well. They're so much alike. We all are, honestly. He would love him.
"Yeah, you should. We could use someone like you around here. I'll keep you for as long as we are legally allowed to." I laugh.
Evan takes another drink of his Jack and Coke, pondering this conversation. All drunken conversation to the side, I know that what I'm saying is true. Same with Clarissa. We all really want Evan to stay.
"Let's take another shot!" Clarissa cheers, grabbing the nearest bartender in sight. "Can we get two rounds of Watermelon shots?" She slurs. The bartender nods and rushes towards the bar.
"I'm starting to think you might have already had too much to drink." Evan informs her cautiously.
"I'm starting to think that you need to mind your own business." She replies with a laugh. Evan rolls his eyes playfully but doesn't argue with her. She's in a good mood right now. We all are.
My phone goes off in my pocket and right as I pull it out, Evan grabs it out of my hands.
"Hell no. No phones, remember?" He warns. He holds it away from me and right as I go to reach for it, Clarissa grabs it away from all of us.
"Oh! It's Melissa!" She squeals and answers the phone. "Hello? Mel?" She yells into the phone.
Melissa is going to fucking kill me. She is going to absolutely murder me. This is it. Hell, I may not have to keep lying to her after all. She's going to breakup with me right now over the phone.
"No! Yeah, Matty's right here. No! We're in a club! Which club? Q Nightclub!" She says excitedly.
"Clarissa, give me the phone." I tell her, trying not to panic.
"I'm sorry." Evan says in a cringe.
Yeah, Evan. I'm sorry, too.
"No, it's not just me and him. We're with Evan, the new guy. Yeah, that one." She says. "Okay! Here he is!" She chirps and hands the phone over to me.
"Thanks." I mumble sarcastically. "Hello?" I ask, cautiously.
"Matthew." Melissa replies. She's pissed. It doesn't take a genius to realize that she's pissed off.
"Baby, I can explain." I start, but get cut off almost immediately.
"You promised me, Matthew. You promised me that you weren't going to go out while I was away!" She yells.
"I know I did, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, baby. I didn't...They wanted me to go out tonight, and I agreed. I'm sorry. Nothing is going on, though!" I assure her.
"Really? Who's this Evan guy? Is he your wingman for the night? Since you don't have Kyler there, you're using him? Why the hell is Clarissa there? What, are you trying to hookup with her or something? Since when do you and her just hangout?" She yells.
"No! Of course not! I'm with you, baby! I'm with you, not anyone else. I know that I went out tonight and I'm sorry. I am here with Evan because Clarissa said that was the only way she would go out." I tell her calmly, trying to hide the conversation happening at the moment from everyone else.
"That doesn't explain why the fuck she's there with you, Matthew!" She yells back.
"Because he likes her! That's why I'm here right now! Not the other way around, Melissa. Just calm down!" I yell into the receiver. I see Evan cringe at my words and look nervously over at Clarissa. She has wide eyes and glances at Evan, confused as ever. Evan dodges all eye contact, too embarrassed to look at her. I don't really blame him, either.
"Okay, well I'm getting off of the phone. I can't fucking believe you right now, Matthew. I really can't." She says, hanging up.
"Fucking damnit!" I yell when she hangs up.
"I'm sorry, Matty..." Clarissa says, still slurring her words a bit.
"No, it's my fault." He says, taking the blame off of Clarissa.
"No, it's no one's fault. It's fine." I sigh, running my hand over my face.
"Should we...go?" Clarissa asks nervously.
"No, I don't want to. We're staying and we're drinking." I say.
Right as the words leave my mouth, the bartender approached with the shots Clarissa had ordered earlier.
"Hey, can I also get a few more drinks?" I ask him.
"What were you thinking?" He asks.
"The biggest drink you have." I say, grabbing my credit card and handing it to him.
"We have a fishbowl drink. It's rum based and pretty good." He shrugs. "It's fifty dollars."
"Great, we'll have it." I say.
"Now we're talking." Evan laughs, taking a shot from the tray and downing it quickly.
"Let's get this party started." Clarissa laughs, joining Evan.
For the first time in a long time, I don't even think about Melissa. I don't wonder if she's mad at me, because I already know that answer. She's always fucking mad at me. Always. Right now, I really don't even care. I don't care that she's mad at me. I don't care that I lied to her. I don't want to talk to her as much as she doesn't want to talk to me.
I just don't care anymore.

Author's Note!!!!
I hope you are all loving the story!!! I hope you all like this story in Matty's POV! I really just feel like I needed to write as him for awhile, and I'm loving it. The first story was very much surrounded by Candace and her scandal, but now it's quite the opposite. This story is really all about Matty and his scandals now. I hope you guys like this approach to it! I'll probably throw some different POV's in there. I'd even like to do a chapter in Evan's POV. Because he's a pretty big character in this story. As far as character development and conflict resolutions go. I love writing this story!
Thank you for your patience and commitment to this story! I really appreciate it!
