The Doctor had told Rose to be in the back yard at twelve am sharp. He'd been gone all day and left Rose in the house to herself and Bo, their border collie. When Rose opened the back door the yard was lit by jars with candles and a small outdoor dining table sat in the middle of a circle of Christmas lights.

"Doctor!" Rose called looking around the candle lit yard, a large smile on her face. Except, no one was around.

"Now where could he be now?" She mumbled to herself. She walked around the yard a couple times until she finally decided to sit in the chair, looking down, she found a note that was covered in the Doctor's scribble.

"Rose Tyler,

Look up, and smile.

Love,

The Doctor."

She looked up, giggling like a teenager after being asked out to a dance. Somehow the Doctor managed to sneak out without a sound, which was unusual for him. He was wearing the suit they had bought for a friend's wedding. He wore a light blue button-down under the black jacket, black slacks and black converse.

"You came." He said standing with his hands behind his back.

"How could I not? I also live here so it was very convenient." Rose asked walking towards him.

She stood on her toes and gave him a peck on the lips. He smiled at her before taking her hand. Together they walked towards the table. Rose looked up at him, his eyes seem to be gleaming with excitement. He helped her sit down and sat down himself, with a silly grin on his face. The Doctor sat there, his smile getting wider. Rose just smiled back. A small meal laid before them, but it was all of Rose's favorite foods. A small batch of chips, simple sandwiches and a soda. They talked about Torchwood and Tony and Jackie.

Rose finally asked the question that has been on her mind since she walked on the back patio, "What is this about?"

"Well, I felt like we needed a night outdoors." He said, looking up at the stars.

"Really? Your message seemed to be really important." Rose said looking at him.

The Doctor turned toward Rose, with a gentle smile on his face "Oh Rose Tyler, this is very important, life changing! One of the most important things you'll can ever think of!"

"Shut up with the blabber and tell me what's going on." She said, her mind whirling with possibilities.

The Doctor stood up and held his hand out. Rose stood up; her heart pounding. He cupped her hand and keeled to the ground.

"Rose Tyler, will you marry me?"

The simple question finally asked, but Rose hesitated; this isn't her real Doctor, a clone. But he knew as much as the real one does. A voice; a unfamiliar voice called to her in the back of her head. It was young, but there was saddening tone to it.

"Go on Rose. He's also me. I could never forget you."

What seemed like hours were mere seconds.

"Yes, oh of course yes!" she said, bouncing on her heels.

The Doctor stood up and kissed her; a real kiss that she knew she would never forget.

I wanted to see how well I have advanced through writing! So I rewrote the first chapter of the story. What do you think? The first draft or this one?
