"But Roooooose.." The Doctor whined, pulling at his bowtie.
"No buts. You're going." Rose said, whacking his hand away from the bowtie and straightening it.
"Why do we have to dress up?"
Rose sighed, "Because, it's a dance and we have to go."
The Doctor pouted his bottom lip, but Rose just shook her head and looked away. Straightening her own dress in the mirror. The Doctor smirked and looped his arms around her waist.
"You know, we can just stay here and find out." He whispered in her ear.
A small light of fire light in Rose's eyes, "But we can also wait until we get back."
She kissed him on the cheek and left the room. Leaving a frustrated Doctor behind. He'd already knew he probably wasn't going to get out of this. He still tried, following Rose around the large kitchen with puppy dog eyes, giving her little kisses, and trying to get Tony to act like he was sick so they would have to take care of him. But Rose just whacked him each time and told him this was her parents party and they couldn't miss it.
"We live in their house anyways, it's the least we can do."
Finally the Doctor gave up. Twenty minutes later they were on their way to the venue with a six year old, tuxedo dressed Tony in the back seat. As soon as they arrived at the candle lit gardens, Tony leapt out of the car and ran straight to Jackie. She smiled apologetically at the woman she was talking to and lifted up Tony. The Doctor took Rose's hand with a smile, she beamed back at him.
"I really do love this place." She said looking around.
"What'd you mean?"
She sighed, "I mean how the place looks. How it's light by candle, it's so simple yet so beautiful."
The Doctor smiled down at her as she rambled on about the place. Her eyes shining and her face bright.
"I'd thought you two would never show up." Jackie said, still holding Tony.
Rose rolled her eyes, "These two took their precious time."
"Oi! you were the one to make us where all of this." The Doctor said, referencing to his clothes.
Jackie just shook her head, "Well, hurry up and get to the meadow. You're father is about to start talkin'"
"Yes sir!" He said with a fake salute, earning a slap on the shoulder.
Rose tugged him along as he whined about how it hurt and finally stopped him by pulling him down into a sweet kiss.
"Better?" She asked with smile.
The Doctor just nodded and walked forward with his arm bound around Rose's waist. When they reached the meadow, people sat on blankets and a small platform in front of them all. People stood to greet Rose and- as the Doctor was know as to the public- John. They shook hands and said hellos until they reached the platform. Someone instructed them to go behind the make-shift curtain where Pete waited.
"Haven't seen you in a while!" He said, pulling Rose into a hug and shook hands with the Doctor.
"What's it been, four weeks?" The Doctor asked.
Pete nodded, "Just about."
"So what exactly is this thing?" Rose asked.
"It's called 'The Happy Bash', it's just a big dance where someone announces a new product or somethin'" Pete explained.
"What is it we're telling?"
"A new energy drink, made for long work days."
"Maybe not just for work days." The Doctor whispered in Rose's ear.
A wild blush appeared on her cheeks and Pete raised his eyebrows. One of the planners told them they were ready for the announcements. The Doctor held Rose's hand the whole time, and whispered his comments as Pete spoke. Few people noticed to blushes or giggles from Rose, but Jackie did, which earned the Doctor another slap. As they were instructed, everyone walked to the reception area of the property. Where they ate and danced. After Tony's four dances with Rose; Jackie took him away saying it was time to go home.
A slow cover of A Thousand Years began to play and a small smile teased on the Doctor's face before finally asking Rose to dance.
"You know, you can just pull me out to dance any time and I'll be willing." She said.
The Doctor laughed, "Well, it's always nice to be a gentlemen."
Rose laughed at the comment, "Only when my father is around."
"Oi! I'm always a gentlemen to you."
"Mmmhm, more like a sweet, sarcastic, Time Lord if you ask me."
"Part Time Lord."
Rose just sighed and laid her head on his chest. She swore she could still hear the ghost beat of his second heart. The Doctor put his hand on the curve of her back, Rubbing gentle circles.
I have died everyday waiting for you, Darling don't be afraid,
I have loved you,
for a thousand years.
I'll love you for a thousand more.
"You don't realize how true that is to me." The Doctor whispered.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
Rose leaned back and looked at him, "You don't know how much that means to me."
He smiled, "You don't realize how much you mean to me."
That earned him a deep kiss. A loving, bruising kiss. With a nip of the lip and a hum.
"Love you." Rose smiled, leaning her head into his neck.
"Love you too." The Doctor said, pulling his Rose closer.
