Rebekah felt like the universe had it out for her. She had wasted so much time and energy searching for the cure, and it was all for nothing. There was no cure, she was stuck.

"It was all waste of time." She said sadly. "Firstly there is only one cure and that good for nothing doppelganger has taken it to do god knows what with it, secondly I don't understand why Katherine would want the cure, she is literally the last person I would know who would want to be human. Well besides Nik, and lastly my brother is going to dagger me for the rest of my life for working against him."

"I won't let him." Stefan said seriously. "Whatever Katherine's agenda is, I'm sure it won't be long till we find out, she's not good at keeping secrets."

"But she is good at running." Rebekah pointed out. "Well I should head home and face the fire. Maybe you could come over for some drinks later? Granted I'm still alive."

"He'll be busy." Elena sneered before Stefan could answer.

Rebekah rolled her eyes. "Stefan has a mouth of his own you know? He's perfectly capable of speaking for himself."

"Can we not start this again?" Stefan pleaded. He did not want a repeat of the beach interaction.

"I can be civilized." Rebekah stated all lady like. "I don't know about Elena here."

"You being civilized is like asking a dog not to bark." Elena hissed. "Stefan can we talk in private?"

"Typical Doppelganger." Rebekah scoffed turning away.

"Sure, Rebekah you can go ahead, I'll follow." Stefan said.

Rebekah's heart felt rejected. "Sure." She wished Stefan would realise he was more than just a doppelgangers second best. He was perfect and sweet but he couldn't see that. She recomposed herself and walked away, Damon following behind her. She stopped shortly and faced Damon. "I am genuinely curious, how does it feel knowing your girl friend still lusts after your brother.

Damon growled. Rebekah smirked and flashed away. She knew she'd been a bitch, but misery loves company.

Once they were sure they were alone, Stefan and Elena went an set on a large rock that wasn't too far and began talking.

"I don't want you hanging out with Rebekah, Stefan." Elena stated.

Stefan arch a defiant eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

"She's an evil monster Stefan. She's not good for you. She is not one of us!" Rebekah shrieked.

"First of all, we're all monsters that doesn't necessarily mean we're evil. And secondly how would you know what's good and what's not good for me? Elena you don't want me so I've decided to broaden my horizons. Besides I know Rebekah. And you should be ashamed of yourself, Rebekah helped us out today, we might all be dead if not for her. She wants the same thing we all do, to be human again.

"You were a ripper when you knew her, I bet she has changed." Elena scoffed. "She's playing you Stefan, she'll just hurt you.

"And if she does it'll be nothing compared to what you did, living me for m own brother." Stefan said in an end of discussion tone. "Besides I think that it'd be best if you concentrate on your own relationship and not mine. Damon is not as patient as I am."

Stefan stood up and left Elena sitting there in shock. He felt super good about himself at that moment, for the first time since he and Elena broke up, stood up for himself against her. Now he just hoped he wasn't too late for Rebekah to accept him. He ran all the way to the Mikaelson mansion and stood there not knowing what to do. He noticed her bedroom light was still on, and there didn't seem to be any arguments going on in the house. He knew that stepping into the mansion would sign his fate, and he was ready.

"Stefan?" He gasped seeing Caroline exiting the Mikaelson mansion, Klaus close behind her.

"Hey." He said nervously. "Care, I can explain." He rushed.
"No need." Caroline dismissed. "Right now I think you need to stop standing out here like a lurker and go pour your heart out to that girl, you both need some love in your lives."

   "Okay?" Stefan said.

"By the way I think that I should let you know this, Klaus and I got to talking. I finally realized my feelings for him are a lot stronger than I thought." Caroline breathed. "We've decided to give us a try."

"Does he make you happy?" Stefan asked.

"He does." Caroline answered. "I feel like I can be me with him."

"Well then I can't fault you for that then." Stefan said. "If he makes you happy then I am happy. Besides, if I judged you that'd make me major hypocrite. I've decided to give Rebekah and I a second go." He turned to Klaus. "Take care of her or I will definitely find a way to kill you, Care isn't allowed to cry."

"Same goes for you with my sister." Klaus replied.

Caroline squealed and hugged Stefan. "I think I may have been wrong about Elena being your epic love. Now go get her."

"Thanks Care." Stefan said before flashing away.

He entered the house and went up the stairs to Rebekah's room. He knocked gently on the door and Rebekah opened it a second later. He looked her up and down, she was wearing a gorgeous navy blue silk night gown that curved her body really well.

"I thought you'd stay with princess Elena." Rebekah said as Stefan walked towards her.

"I rather enjoy your company." Stefan whispered in her ear. "Do you mind if I take a shower?"

"Sure." Rebekah replied handing him a spare towel.

Stefan took the towel and made his way into the bathroom. Rebekah took the time to spray herself with some sweet scented Lavender body product.

Stefan came out of the bathroom later and laid beside her.

"Modern day television is so boring." She commented before turning of the TV and facing Stefan. "So what do you want to do?"

From her tone, Stefan wondered if she thought he wanted to use her for sex and live her. "Nothing, I just want to lay here with you and hold you."

   "Really?" Rebekah asked unsure.

"Really." Stefan replied pulling her to him and cuddling her.

Maybe not everything in the world was designed to blow into a million particles.
