Chapter 31

Everything was in chaos the moment that Caroline announced that her water broke. Since everyone was crazed, Sophie took charge of the situation and kicked anyone who wasn't a Mikaelson or a future Mikaelson out. Rebekah having experience as a nurse helped Caroline to a room.

"Ugh, I hate you!" Caroline screamed as a contraction hit her. "Men are so selfish, they want to put babies in us but they don't even know the pain that comes with it!" 

"Calm down love, it's going to be okay," Klaus said in a calming voice. He'd heard women can go on another level when they are pregnant, but he wasn't expecting this, Caroline was going mental, of course, he wouldn't tell her that.

It had been less than an hour into the labor and Caroline was certain that she'd never have sex ever again whereas Klaus knew he had a couple of broken bones already. He was pleading to anyone who would listen that this labor wouldn't last long.

"So I have good news and bad news,"  Rebekah said, smirking at her big brother. "Which would you like to hear first?"

"Give me the bad first," Caroline answered.

"Well, the bad news is I can not give you any epidural because your body will only burn it off." Rebekah was currently setting up a contractions monitor she'd "borrowed" to monitor Caroline and the baby. "The good news is this baby doesn't want to slow down for anything so it'll be here soon." 

Caroline sighed in relief. She honestly did not want to spend hours in labor without any sort of pain relief. Deciding to left Klaus feel what she was going through, she took a large dose of pain and let it out knocking Klaus to the floor.

"What was that, love?" Klaus asked stabling himself.

"That is what I call next time if you ever get the chance and you put your junk in me, you are going to die a slow painful death," Caroline answered smartly. 

Klaus sighed, this was going to be a long night, he was sure of that, but he was ready to meet his child.

It took an hour and a half, but finally, baby Joseph Mikaleson had entered the world. Caroline laughed, happy tears streaming down her cheeks. 

"That's my baby," she said as Rebekah handed Joseph to a nervous-looking Klaus. 

Klaus' eyes watered at seeing the firstborn child he never imagined he could have. His tiny hairs were a mixture of both himself and Caroline, but he definitely had Caroline's nose and his father's lips. He Klaus could not imagine what he had done to deserve such a blessing, but someone thought him worthy enough to give him a beautiful fiance and a handsome son.

He walked over to Caroline and handed the baby to him wanting him to meet his mother. It was almost as if Joseph knew when he was in his mother's arms because almost immedietly he opened his eyes revealing grayish greenish eyes like his fathers.

"Oh my god, Nick, he's so handsome," Caroline gasped. "I never imagined an impromptu trip to the past could do this for me. We have a son Nick."

"I know." Klaus smiled kissing her forehead as they both looked at Joseph, completely mesmerized.

"Congratulations brother," Rebekah said hugging Klaus. "And to you too Caroline, you both deserve this. Are you ready to see everyone?"

Caroline nodded. "Thank you, Rebekah, and yes, I'm ready to see everyone."

Rebekah smiled and went to announce the news to everyone. Almost immedietly Bonnie barged into the room completely overtaking everyone.

"Care he's beautiful!" Bonnie squealed. "What's his name?"

"Joseph Stefan Mikaelson, meet your auntie, Bonnie Bennett," Caroline introduced. "She can be scary, but she fights to the bone for the ones she loves."

"You gave him my name?" Stefan asked in shock.

"Of course mate, Caroline insisted that you have been there for her even at her worst and you never abandoned her so she wanted to honor you somehow," Klaus explained.

"You don't mind do you?" Caroline asked. 

"No way, I'm honored." Stefan smiled giving Caroline a gently side hug. 

"He really is Magnificent, Caroline," Elijah complimented. He was thrilled to see how far his young brother had come and all because of a baby vampire, the Mikaelson owed Caroline a lot. Elijah knew that now he could finally leave his own life. 

"Thank you, Elijah," Caroline smiled. "Kol I can see that mischievous look in your eyes, no you will not teach my son how to sneak out and get girls. God knows I don't want a grandchild anytime soon."

Everyone in the room laughed at Caroline's remark. To the outside world, this was a perfect moment, if only things would stay that way forever, but you know what they say, there's always calm before the storm. Life was good at the moment for the Mikaelson's.

Aww, welcome to the pack Joseph Mikaelson. Your family is a wild bunch, but they fight to the bone for each other.
