BACK TO THE PRESENT
The minute the trio woke up, they realized they were back in Bonnie's house. It was still the same as they left it, so Ayanna was right, time did not move at all. The girls slowly stood up and inspected themselves for injury. There didn't seem to be anything out of place.
"Don't worry, they're okay, I can here their heartbeats." Stefan consoled, his eyes widening. "I'm a vampire again."
"But I still feel the same, like I'm still human." Caroline said.
Stefan focused his hearing. "That's because you still are. How come you got to stay human?"
"I think I may have an idea." Bonnie said. "If you were still a vampire, the baby inside you wouldn't be able to grow because you're frozen. Maybe the spirit's decided to be kind and send you back human so you could carry on your pregnancy, or maybe you are now some kind of hybrid. Wouldn't surprise me given who the father is."
"Well why couldn't they show us their kindness by letting us stay." Caroline snarled. "We need to come up with a story. How am I suppose to explain this, one day I'm a vamp the next I'm human. Rebekah is currently obsessed with the cure, if she finds out I'm human, she might think I somehow got the cure and be out for blood.
"There is no way to explain everything we went through, everyone will think we went crazy." Bonnie said.
"Firstly Bonnie I think you need to find a spell to hide both you and Caroline's pregnancies, as well as Caroline's humanity. If the originals find out she's human again they'll be suspicious." Stefan said all business like. "And then maybe we could work out a way to bond with them. Caroline you told me that you and Klaus had discussed starting a relationship, that is helpful, Rebekah was beginning to trust me again, we can use that to our advantage and try get their memories back. Once we get close to them we can find out if there's a witch we can use to get Kol back."
Bonnie and Caroline stared at him in wonder. "Have you ever thought about making a movie?" Caroline asked.
Stefan laughed. The doorbell rang and they all looked at each other like seers caught at the red light. "What do we do, we haven't done the spells yet." Bonnie whispered.
"Just stick with the plan and follow my lead," Stefan said.
He walked towards the door with the girls behind him. He opened the door to reveal Klaus standing there. GREAT.
"Caroline." Klaus said in relief. "I came to see you, I was wondering if you are okay. You haven't changed your mind about us have you?"
Caroline swooned. How sweet he thought she had changed her mind about them.
"Um, will give you time to talk," Bonnie said. "Klaus would you like to stay for lunch?"
Klaus arched a suspicious eyebrow. "Is this going to be another attempt at killing me?"
"No. " Bonnie said hurriedly. "I know that none of us have seen eye to eye for some time, so I want to be the first to call a truce. Let bygones be bygones. I apologize for all the pain we've put you through and I really wish I could take it all back. And also Caroline is my sister. You make her happy, so I don't want there to be tension between all of us."
Klaus smiled gently at Caroline. "Well in that case I would love to."
"Klaus I invite you in. " Bonnie said then she led Stefan into the kitchen.
Bonnie walked to the fridge and took out some chicken breasts, lettuce and cucumber. She handed it to Stefan before producing a pack of blood.
"You make a chicken salad whilst I do the spell. " Bonnie whispered. "This is Caroline's blood, I have it in case I find myself needing to track her."
Stefan and Bonnie got to work quickly, making fake conversation as not to alert Klaus to anything suspicious. It took about five minutes to complete the spell, but of course the power had to make the window break by accident. Klaus and Caroline ran into the kitchen alarmed.
"What on earth was that?" Klaus asked.
Bonnie giggled. "Stefan thought it'd be funny to toss a the spatula in the air, but it ended up of the window. Epic fail."
"Right." Stefan slowly, following Bonnie's lead. "You know how I am, always trying to show of." Stefan lied. "So Klaus since you're going to be around more often maybe we can all get to know each other more? "
"What would you like to know Ripper?" Klaus asked with his nickname causing Stefan to grimace.
"How old were you when became immortal?" Bonnie asked.
"25. " Klaus replied. "Elijah was 27, Kol 20, and Rebekah 17."
"Wow Caroline, if Klaus was from this era you'd be dating a freshly out of college guy."Bonnie said causing everyone to laugh.
"Points for me." Caroline cheered.
Bonnie grew solemn. "Klaus I'm truly sorry for my part in Kol's death. If I could turn things around I would. I thought I was helping a friend, but I finally realised that I was merely being used as a personal witch. I am truly sorry."
"So am I." Stefan said. "If I had known Elena would go this far I would have done something to stop it. "
"Why?" Klaus asked. "I was under the impression that you hated me?"
"Even if we hated you, killing your young brother is wrong. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive us someday." Bonnie said.
"Someday." Klaus nodded. "Elijah is in New Orleans now, he's searching for a witch who can help bring Kol back to the living."
"I thought New Orleans witches only practiced ancestral magic." Bonnie said.
"Most of them do, but there are some that rebel and practice spirit, dark and earth magic. They are rare, but can be found." Klaus explained.
"Well if there's anything I can do to help, let me know." Bonnie said.
Feeling the room getting sombre, Caroline decided to change the subject and they soon started laughing and chatting as though none of them had tried to kill each before. It was nice. The house suddenly grew silent when the front door burst open, revealing the angry pair of. Damon and Elena.
"What is happening here?" Damon growled.
