A couple of hours later, Klaus and Caroline returned to the village centre. They found Rebekah sitting with Stefan, sobbing into his shoulder and Bonnie doing the same with Kol. Elijah and Finn were sitting together regret in their eyes. Mikael and Esther were nowhere to be seen much to all their relief.

Stefan nudged Rebekah when he spotted Caroline and Klaus. Rebekah looked up and gasped. She ran and threw herself into her brothers arms, tears streaming down her cheeks. She was so relieved he got back safe. Bonnie stood and went to hug Caroline, grateful that her sister was safe.

"Oh Nik!" Rebekah cried "I'm so happy you are back. I'm sorry we didn't defend you against father. Are you alright?"

"Rebekah calm down." Klaus urged. "I'm fine, Caroline took good care of me. Besides I would never let you go up against father."

Rebekah hugged Caroline, silently thanking her. "Mother took father to their secluded cabin to calm him down, they should be back tomorrow at daybreak."

Klaus merely nodded. He was used to that, whenever his father lost his temper, his mother would take him away until he calmed down reasonably. "Well I have an announcement to make," Klaus took Caroline's hand and brought her forward. "I have asked Caroline to let me court her, and she excepted."

All his siblings clapped and smiled. They felt their brother deserved something good in his life, and Caroline seemed to be perfect for him. He'd seemed to have changed ever since Caroline arrived in the village, he was happier and more relaxed.

Bonnie cleared her throat. "Caroline can I speak to you in private?"

Caroline frowned and followed Bonnie. "What's up."

"Are you out of your mind?" Bonnie whispered. "You can't accept Klaus' proposal."

Caroline sighed. She knew something like this would happen. "I already did, and please don't start sounding like Elena, I really don't need that, I am finally happy Bonnie, please don't ruin that for me."

Bonnie sighed. "I'm not trying to sound like Elena, I'm being practical." She defended. "You can't neglect the fact that we might still be sent back home. I want to let Kol court me, but unlike you I realize that waking up gone one day will hurt them. I don't want to be happy here and miserable when we get back home. Kol is dead in our world."

Caroline frowned, she really hadn't thought about that. "I get where you are coming from, so why don't we tell them the truth? Just them, no one else. At least if we go back, they won't be left thinking that we used them and left. I know it won't change the fact that Kol is dead, but perhaps we could figure it out when we get back."

Bonnie sighed. "This is against my better judgment, but okay."

The two girls walked back and sat on the logs that were being used as benches. Bonnie mouthed to Stefan what they were about to do, and he nodded in agreement, he really wanted things to go well with Rebekah.

"Niklaus, I'm really happy we are together now, but we feel we need to be honest with you." Caroline said seriously. "Please refrain from interrupting or getting angry whilst I explain. We are not from this time, Bonnie is a witch like your mother is. She was doing a cleansing spell, but instead it transported us a thousand years into the past. Stefan is my best friend, we lied because we knew that it's uncommon for woman to be friends with man around this time. We didn't mean to deceive you, but it was necessary to remain safe."

"So you played us for fools?" Klaus asked in outrage. "Why must we believe this story of yours?"

"Because you have no choice if you want to change the future. We can't tell you anything about the future, but be careful of your parents, they are dangerous." Bonnie informed. "You will all suffer pain and loss come the time, but you will survive this. We know this because we know you all in our time. I know it sounds absurd, but it is the truth. Choose not to believe us then what happens is your life."

"I knew I felt power when we touched." Kol said thoughtfully. "I just didn't realize what it was."

"How do we know you are not playing us for fools, prove what you are saying." Finn demanded.

"I don't know what more proof you want." Stefan said. "In our time women can work jobs that men do. The can wear pants. Instead of hunting, we find our food in stores. We have large houses that can hold armies. That is all I will say."

"Am I the one?" Klaus asked suddenly, looking at Caroline. "Am I the man you never gave a chance?"

"Yes," Caroline whispered. "I did eventually give you a chance, but then we were sent into the past. I think it was a fated meeting.

"Do you wish to go back?" Rebekah asked.

"No," the trio said in unison.

"Even if you wish to stay you cannot." A voice said from behind them.

"Ayanna?" Rebekah gasped. "You were not to return until the fortnight."

"The spirit's demanded I return home." Ayanna replied. "I can see why."

Bonnie stood and looked Ayanna up and down. "This is incredible. I never thought I'd see a Bennett ever again, I'm the last of my line."

"And the last you shall be if you keep using dark magic my dear. The full moon falls upon us in a month, the spell you cast will be broken and you return to your time. Make good use of your time here but do not make mistakes you will regret."

They watched as Ayanna disappeared into her hut not to be seen again.

"Well, she seems...nice." Stefan said.

"Don't mind Ayanna she's always like that." Rebekah said. "We think she's lonely. Her only daughter left the village, she's married now and Ayanna's husband passed away last winter."

"I wonder is she knows that I'm alone too." Bonnie sighed sitting next to Kol who rubbed her back in comfort.

"Stefan would you be so kind as to take me for a walk?" Rebekah asked.

Stefan nodded and followed after Rebekah. He hoped she wasn't to upset with him.
