"My brothers are going to be in so much trouble if my father finds out they went away with girls with no one in attendance." Rebekah said. "He and Niklaus are already on bad terms with each other."
"In our time, girls and boys can go places without any supervision from adults. It's even okay for some people to have intercourse before marriage with more than one man." Stefan said as they walked casually.
Rebekah look appalled. "And it's not shameful?"
"No. It's very common, times progresses." Stefan explained.
"Have you ever?"
"Um..." Stefan mentally slapped himself for opening his mouth. "A couple of times. But I loved some of the women that I took that step with, they just didn't love me enough."
"I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't love you." You are literally the boy on every girls mouth in the village. Have you found anyone you think you'd court?"
"As a matter of fact, I have. You actually know her." Stefan teased.
"I do?" Rebekah frowned.
"Yes, she has beautiful wavy golden hair, blue eyes that look like the ocean, and her smile, god her smile could make the angels descend on us."
"That's nice." Rebekah said obliviously. "It's a shame you won't be able to pursue anything with her."
"It's you Rebekah, I'm talking about you." Stefan blurted. "You are the beautiful, golden haired blue eyed goddess I'm talking about. I would like for you to be my lady if you will have me."
Rebekah stopped walking. "Stefan don't play with me."
"I am not playing with you Rebekah. I want you to be my lady."
"You could have any girl you wanted, heavens even my own mother can't stop talking about you."
"But I don't want any girl, I want you." Stefan said honestly. "Unless you don't want me."
Rebekah's eyes widened. "Of course I want you, but so do girls in your time I'm sure."
Stefan grabbed her waist. "So is that a yes?"
"Yes." Rebekah said. "I know it'll be complicated, but yes."
"Yes!" Stefan cheered and twirled her. "So out of curiosity, why am I the only one to court you?"
"Perhaps I am too proud, or maybe I want to marry for love. I have seen my mother, some times when father is not home, she cries to herself. I do not want that." Rebekah stated. "I do not want to merely be cook and a breeder to my husband. I want him to show me love and affection, I want him to make me feel beautiful, I want to be the only woman he thinks of day in and day out. I want to have children that we will both love wholeheartedly. My father says I am foolish. He says there is no such thing as love, but I know he is wrong. If love does not find me then I shall die a nun."
"Your father is wrong," Stefan said, "love does exist. It can at times be illusive, but it exists. And you are beautiful, any man would be lucky to have your hand."
Rebekah scoffed. "You''re just saying that to comfort a poor girl."
"Believe me if I was trying to comfort you, you'd know."
"Tell me about the ladies you've been with." Rebekah asked.
"That's a topic I don't normally like to talk about, but okay." Stefan said. "My first love was Valerie. She was beautiful girl with red hair that made me think of strawberries. I met her at a town fare and I was taken by her. She had to return home to say her goodbyes to her family because we'd discussed marriage. I waited for two days at the train station for he to come so we could start our life together, but she never came. Then there was Katherine. I thought I loved Katherine, but it was more of an infatuation. She came into town and stayed in our family home. I soon found out that she was also pursuing my brother, I tried to let her go, but I couldn't. The last one was Elena. I genuinely loved her, and I think for some time she loved me too, but she decided that she wanted to be with my brother instead of me. I let her go with no regrets, and then there's you."
"You have not been lucky in love have you Stefan?" Rebekah said remorsefully. "I promise you that I'm not like the other women you've been with. They didn't deserve you. Honestly I'm glad that all that happened because it eventually led you to me."
"That is the silver lining in the cloud isn't it." Stefan smiled.
"Oh would you look at that, we got so caught up on talking I didn't realise we were home." Rebekah said sadly.
"Can I see you tomorrow? Perhaps we could go to the stream?" Stefan suggested.
"That sounds absolutely divine." Rebekah smiled. "I would love to, but it'll have to be at noon, I have some chores in the morning, and there might be one of our annual health checks from mother and Ayanna."
"Sounds good to me, it'll give me enough time to prepare." Stefan kissed Rebekah's cheek. "Remember, you are beautiful and you are going to be my wife eventually. I'll see you tomorrow.
"You can stay if you want." Rebekah said hopefully. I'm sure my brothers will have no objections after all they can't judge me."
"I want nothing more than to stay the with you, but I can't. I can not break your fathers rules or else he will ban you from seeing me."
Rebekah smiled. "You are a good man Stefan, and I am really happy that Bonnie accidentally sent you here, it's fate."
As Stefan walked away a single thought formed into his head.
Damon is going to kill me when he finds out about this.
But he didn't care, he was happy, and that's all that mattered to him.
Let me know what you think in a review. Suggestions are welcome.😘
