It was finally the night of the Mikaelson Ball which Rebekah had decided to turn into a winter wonderland.
"I have to say, my little sister, you've outdone yourself." Klaus complimented as they took a look around before their guests arrived.
"I know, thank you for funding this too," Rebekah said without looking at him.
"Wait for what? Rebekah, you have your own money why do you insist on using my money?" Klaus growled. His sister sure did know how to get underneath his skin.
"It's how you stay rich Nick, never use your own money, besides it's your house, meaning that you have to fund this whether you like it or not," Rebekah replied smartly.
Klaus huffed and made his way to one of the windows. He was on edge tonight, so many vampires and werewolves were going to be in his house. Normally he honestly wouldn't care but tonight was different. Tonight Caroline was going to be there, heavily pregnant with their child. He didn't want anything to happen to them but when Caroline makes her mind up about something, in this case attending the ball, there's really no way to derail her.
Rebekah could feel her brother's tension, she put down her usual ice queen exterior and went to stand by him just as they use to when things were so much easier.
"You know I never actually asked you how you felt about all of this, being a father and whatnot," Rebekah said.
Klaus sighed, still not meeting her eyes. "If you tell anyone I told you this I will deny it, but I'm terrified," Klaus answered. "Not because I don't want to be a father, that feeling is amazing, but I am terrified that I'll mess up."
Rebekah laid her hand on his shoulder. Despite their differences, she was always close to Klaus so she knew what he was thinking. "You are nothing like him." She stated. "I know that you fear that because Mikael was the only male role we had in our lives growing up that you will be just like him, but I refuse to believe that. Look at you now, one step closer to being the king of your own city, a fiance who adores you, a child that is going to adore the ground you walk on, and family. Mikael got the respect he has because he installed fear into everyone he came across, now I admit you do that sometimes, but for everything you have, you have worked for it. I believe that that baby Caroline carries within her is your redemption. God, I sound like Elijah, how far I have fallen." Klaus laughed at her remark. "Why are you laughing, I'm telling you something."
"It's just you haven't changed much since we were human Bekah, you always knew how to comfort me with just a hug and a few words and you can still do it."
"Well I'm not hugging you right now so I have no idea what you are talking about." Rebekah smiled before giving in and hugging Klaus. "I have many many hugs to give you."
"I wish I could give you your deepest desire, but I can not. It seems unfair that I got the life that you wanted and you have to watch on the sidelines."
"It's okay," Rebekah said firmly. "I'm just glad I have Stefan. Even though I can not have children, I am going to be the most amazing aunt in the world."
Klaus smiled. "I should go make sure Caroline's ready."
"I swear she's about to pop that baby out," Rebekah mumbled watching him walk towards the door. "By the way you're wrong, you have given me one of my deepest desires, having my family back together without arguments."
Klaus smiled softly and made his way out of the room. Once he was gone, Stefan made his way into the room and wrapped his arms around her.
"You heard." She whispered.
"Mm-hmm." Stefan nodded giving her cheek a kiss. "Did I mention how beautiful you look today?"
Rebekah shrugged. "Maybe, but a girl loves hearing she looks great"
"Well, you look like a princess." Stefan complimented. "However, something's on your mind."
"I just want this night to go well for Nick and Caroline," Rebekah says. "I know that regardless we'll always have enemies, but I want things to go well tonight."
"They will. I really don't think the vampires have a choice, it's either bend the knee or die. If they have brains, they'll bend the knee."
"I love you, you always know what to say at the right moment."
"I love you too. Guests should be arriving soon."
Just as Stefan said that the rest of the troops entered the ballroom everyone gasping at the sight. Rebekah had made sure no one had seen the decor so they would be in shock and her hard work had paid off.
"Wow little sister," Kol said, "do we have any money left."
Bonnie punched him in the ribcage. "Don't mind him, Rebekah, this is amazing, I seriously feel like I'm Elsa right now."
"Who?" Kol asked.
"Shut up," Bonnie replied.
"Stupid hormones," Kol mumbled.,
"What did you just say?"
"Nothing darling, just that you look beautiful." Kol sweet-talked.
Rebekah smirked. "What'd the rest of us miss?"
"He made me fat." Bonnie sniffled.
Caroline scoffed. "You're complaining, I look like a freaking beached whale."
Sophie was about to step in, but Elijah shook his head, mouthing for her to live them. "We should probably open the doors now," Elijah said preventing a long argument from happening.
The minute they opened the doors, one vampire they list expected was standing before them holding a roll of paper in his hand.
"Diego," Elijah said, his guard coming up. "How may we assist you?"
"I have been on Marcel's side for a very long time and I can say that I do not want him to be king anymore," Diego said with false bravado.
"Why should we believe anything you say?" Klaus said flashing towards him.
Diego gulped. "I'm not on vervain, you can compel me to find out where my loyalties are. I've brought you a list of vampires who are willing to trade allegiance to you during the ball, Marcel has not been informed yet of the progressions."
"One step out of line, one betrayal and I will not stand in the way of Klaus conserving your head from your kneck," Caroline said from behind Klaus. "I thank you for what you have done though."
"Not all of them traded though. Some would rather die, but there are hundreds on this list."
"You will be rewarded for your hard work," Elijah said gratefully. "Will you be joining us for the ball?
"I can't exactly go back now can I? Marcel would have my kneck." Diego said. At that moment, posh expensive cars started pulling up to the driveway.
"Well enough with all this seriousness," Rebekah commanded. "Let's get this party started!"
Seeing as I went on a long block, it's not yet Christmas in JTT, but I wanted to symbolize this beautiful season in some way. I just wanted to give a quick explanation to Caroline and Bonnie's pregnancies, they are moving rapidly because they are not human. They are both almost to full term, let me know in the comments what the names of the babies should be. Until next time, happy holidays to everyone.
