A loud knock by the door startled Caroline awake early morning. She groaned and got up, being pregnant was really making her lazy. She opened the front door, to find Klaus standing behind it. Normally, she'd be thrilled, but damn can't a girl sleep?
"Klaus what are you doing knocking on my door at 07:00a.m on a weekend? Since we're dating I think its best for you to know that I don't wake up before ten on a weekend."
Klaus looked at her in amusement. He actually knew that small fact because of Stefan, but he couldn't resist seeing if she really was a grouch in the morning. "I'm sorry love, I just..." Klaus trailed off, his eyes drifting to her stomach. "What is that?"
"What's what?" Caroline asked her eyes following his. She gasped when she saw what he was looking at. "Klaus I can explain."
Klaus frowned, his eyes dangerous. "I sure hope so because that wasn't there yesterday, so that means you had it concealed somehow."
"Why don't you come in? I have to call Bonnie and Stefan, they have to be here for this." Caroline said rushing up to her room, bumping into Sophie on the way.
"Is everything...oh." Sophie said spotting Klaus who looked furious and Caroline who looked distraught. It wasn't until then that she noticed the spell had worn off.
"I need to call Bonnie." Caroline said frantically. "He's never gonna forgive me, I've ruined everything!"
"Caroline listen to me." Sophie whispered calmly so Caroline would be the only one to hear. "Klaus seems to genuinely love you, if you are honest with him, I'm sure he'll forgive you. Now go into that room and call Bonnie then go and face your man. I'll take a shower and come down when you guys are done."
"Okay." Caroline said rushing into her room.
Caroline dialed Bonnie's number, it took her a few minutes to answer, but when she did, she sounded panicked.
"Caroline, I just tried to call you. Something went wrong, the spell I did just wore off all of a sudden." Bonnie said.
"I know Bonnie, I just saw. Unfortunately for me, Klaus saw as well. He's furious Bonnie, I know he is. I need you and Stefan to come over and help me explain."
"Of course Care." Bonnie agreed. "Keep it together, we'll be on our way soon."
"Okay." Caroline whispered quietly, hanging up. Everything was perfect now this. "Time to face the music baby." She slowly made her way downstairs, she was in no hurry.
"Klaus?" She whispered.
"Ah finally you're here?" Klaus said furiously.
"I know you're angry, but I am begging you if you really love me at all, I need you to listen to me." Caroline begged.
Klaus' feature visibly softened. He was angry, but he didn't want to hurt her that was for sure, not after he just got her. He extended his hand for her to start talking.
"I have no idea how to even explain all of this to you, so I'm giving you permission to look through my mind." Caroline said. "I'm letting you do this, because I trust you, and I love you."
Klaus arched an eyebrow at her. He was very aware that Caroline hated compulsion, and she definitely didn't appreciate people looking through her mind. The fact that she was letting him in, meant a lot to him, but he feared what he would see in her mind. He gently placed his palms on both sides of her face and focused. He was immediately taken to a time that he had long since forgotten. It was his human past, and Caroline was in it. He saw everything, from Caroline defending him from his father, to Caroline cleaning off his wounds for him. He saw the moment he and Caroline made love to each other, the moment he proposed. He quickly snatched his hands from her face, panting from the memories.
