Chapter 5: Annabeth Tries To Murder A Watermelon
"Can we just take a moment to realize that Percy is holding a bag from a teenagestore that mostly franchises to girls?" I pointed out to everyone else in our group. Piper began laughing as she noticed that he was holding the Hollister bag.
Percy didn't seem to have any problem with it. "Hey, it's called making afashion statement. Duh." He said while striking a model pose.
"You're such a dweeb." Jason said playfully.
He shrugged and said, "I know." All five of us made our way to the Big House to tell Chiron what happened.
"Do you guys usually get Hydras around here often?" I asked Leo, who seemed very quiet.
"No, that's not normal, or at least it doesn't happen every day." He shrugged and I thought I noticed him take a step closer towards me. I felt my cheeks heat up a tiny bit.
Suddenly someone was coming towards us. "Where have you been for, like, the past half hour? You left me waiting in the arena." Annabeth stormed up to Percy.
He gave her an "I'm sorry" look.
"That's not going to cut it, Seaweed brain." She made it clear she cared for him, just in a weird way. "Sorry, I just had to help with a hydra. But I'm here still!"
He smiled at her and she stopped in shock. "A hydra? Outside our camp? Did Jason and Piper bring it back?" she asked Percy, but glanced over at a guilty looking Jason. He looked down at his feet and twiddled his thumbs.
"Yea, it kinda caught on our track and we almost died, but hey! At least we had Percy watching our backs." Jason smiled, trying to make Annabeth less angry.
It somewhat worked. "Fine, you're off the hook. But does that explain the Hollister bag?" She motioned to the bag he was holding.
"Thank you! Somebody else notices it!" I laugh and Percy held up a finger at me.
"Girl. You just crossed the line. It's a fashion statement. Now, up-shut before I have to blast you with a water geyser." He and all his sassiness turns away and takes little steps up to the Big House's porch, I giggle.
Having a brother was great.
"I heard the word far faster than you could deliver it. Can I please speak with Piper, Jason, Percy and Tara please?" Chiron stepped out and said calmly. I stole a quick glance at Piper; she looked as confused as I did. But I still went up to him and the others followed him inside. Before the doors shut, I peeked out and saw Leo give me thumbs up.
What a dork.
We curved around walls and down a flight of stairs into the basement.
"So, everyone please take a seat. We have a few things to discuss." Chiron ushered to the chairs surrounding a Ping-Pong table. I sat near the edge of it and tried to sit completely still. The less attention focused on me, the better.
"Piper, Jason, welcome back. And Tara, I hear that you have tapped into your powers." He focused on me. I nodded slowly.
"She was amazing. I haven't even known her for more than an hour and I know this." Piper said, making me slightly smile.
I think it was good for a first try, but not described as amazing. Hardly even good. "Nice job Tara, this is great news." Chiron congratulated me. I silently thanked him and moved on.
"And I hear that Percy, you used Medusa's powers to turn the beast to stone." He directed his attention to Percy now, who wasn't even paying attention.
