Chapter 33: Behold Tara, Queen Of Not-Giving-A-Crap
In the morning, I felt dead.
Maybe I wasn't physically, but mentally, I was beyond tired. Last night I had layed awake, just thinking of people who could've helped me.
Percy immediately popped into my head. Nah.
Jason, possibly? No.
Hazel said no... Frank wouldn't. Nope for both of them.
Piper? Leo? How could they help?
Then I just gave up.
As I dragged myself to breakfast, I got glances from the others that were in the meeting last night. They all were wondering whom I'd pick to accompany me. But my face gave off no such signs, for my face muscles were too busy frowning.
"Whoa, everyone look out, here comes Tara-zilla." Percy laughed as I sat at the table with my eggs and waffles. I didn't bother to brush out the ratty tangles in my hair, or even really change for the matter. My Superman pajama pants were still being used at the moment, and I'd only put on my camp shirt. That much was a task.
"Shush." I mumbled and put a finger to his lips. Honestly, I was too lazy for a comeback, and I wasn't in the mood to slap him.
"What kept you up?" He asked.
"Stuff." I replied and yawned.
"What kind of stuff?" He used hand motions to keep me going.
"Stuff about stuff. Monsters. You know, demigod stuff." I was so tired, I had almost fallen asleep sitting upright and I face-planted into my eggs.
Percy snickered, but I gave him the deadliest glare I could while being half-dead. "You got a little something, there." He pointed to a spot on my cheek where I had bits of eggs stuck to my face. I quickly wiped it away and stood.
As if the day couldn't get any better, while getting up, I whacked into someone behind me. It was none other than Nico di Angelo. "Sorry," I mumbled and continued to move along. He hissed behind me, "Watch it."
I turned so fast I almost got whiplash. "Well, pardon me, YourHighness." I bowed, mocking him. He glared at me.
"Great way to give up my scepter." He mumbled and strode off.
Puzzled, I ignored that last comment, and went back to my cabin. The second I hit my covers, waves of sleep engulfed me. It was peaceful, and undisturbed. Until about a half hour later when someone kept annoyingly knocking at the door.
"GO AWAY!" I shouted at them.
"Tara Evelyn! Get your butt out here! The meeting starts in two minutes! And you need to make an appearance!" They yelled back.
I had forgotten about the meeting that would take place today. Sadly, I had to go. I arose from my peaceful bed and lugged myself through the door. Clarisse was tapping her foot, looking pissed and annoyed. I decided to go with her, and not pitch a fit. It would benefit the both of us. "C'mon." She rolled her eyes and began walking.
In the meeting room, everyone was sitting straight up and tall. I took my place alongside Percy. "Tara, think wisely. Who is it that you're taking to Camp Jupiter? Take your time." Chiron let me proceed. I immediately blurted out Percy's name. That left three. I remembered the promise I had made Leo. He was to protect me.
"Leo Valdez." I said, and nodded in his direction.
Since it was going to be me and two boys, I wanted to choose a lady. "Hazel, are you able to go?" I asked her. She nodded, "Of course. Thank you, I'm honored." I smiled inside. I felt like I could trust her. She really seemed like a friend.
