Chapter 4: My Butt Catches On Fire
"Dang Leo! Don't kill yourself for waffles!" Percy yelled to Leo, who was getting into a fight with a kid from Ares cabin over a waffle. "It's mine. I was the one who even fixed this machine!" He huffed.
"I was here first. And nobody cares what you fix, hammer-head." The Ares kid said in defense. I held in a laugh at his lazy pun.
"Well, if you don't mind, I'm going to take the waffle and be on my way." Leo said to the guy. These two were holding up the line for the past five minutes, about a stupid waffle. He was lucky the only people in the line were me, Percy, and a very, very mad Annabeth.
It came to the point where I couldn't take it. "Boys! Stop it, I want breakfast, and so does Percy and Annabeth. So, if you guys can figure it out, that'd be great." I rolled my eyes at them.
"Split the stupid piece of crap in half!" Annabeth yelled at them while tapping her foot on the ground, she was about to murder them.
"Fine. Let's just split it." Leo gave in and rolled his eyes at us. The other guy from Ares was stubborn, but gave in.
"Finally! Thank the gods that's over." Percy said out of happiness. We got our food, and sat at our assigned tables. I decided that since I slept in Poseidon's cabin, I could eat at his table.
"So, are you always alone like this? Before I was here?" I asked him.
"Every once in a while my half-brother Tyson visits." He said while piling scrambled eggs into his mouth. "Oh, that's nice. But you must feel like a real loner." I pointed my fork at him. He made a face at me but nodded slowly.
My mind wondered back to last night. Ever since I was claimed by Poseidon, the voices had gone away. It was very peaceful without them and I was thankful they had gone somewhere else besides my head. And my dreams didn't make any sense either. My mother knew, about it all. And she never told me or anything. But the second dream confused me the most, what did it mean? Was all that going to happen?
"Are you okay?" Someone touched my shoulder and I jumped back.It was just Leo.
"Gods you scared me." I glared at him.
"Since you seem to be done with your breakfast, do you want to see the dragon?" He smiled back at me mischievously. I glanced quickly at Percy; he was taking a sip of water, but was watching us and giving me that look that said: "Leo and Tara, sitting in a tree..." I leaned over and punched him in the shoulder. He spit out his water and began laughing like a complete lunatic.
"Shut up Percy!" I was laughing with him though. Leo gave us a completely confused look. "It's nothing, just Percy being a pesky older brother." I gave him a playful glare.
He was holding back another laugh.
"Forget him. Let's go, Leo." I stood up and walked off with him. When I reached the giant scar, I hopped over it carefully and with ease. Something didn't feel right about it. How Nico caused it, I had no clue. Maybe I could ask him about it.
"Hey Leo, can you tell me more about Nico di Angelo?"
"Nico? I see him around often but he likes to isolate himself usually. He did help us when we had to close the Doors of Death though." Leo thought back.
"How long ago was that?" I asked him.
"It was only two years ago. It's been pretty chill too. I'm actually quite happy now that Gaea isn't trying to rule the world." He smirked at me when he said it.
"Seriously? Wow, how much did I miss?" I laughed in shock.
"Well, you missed the Second Titan War, and the prophecy of Seven. But you're lucky, it was horrible." He made a face.
