Chapter 24: Stupid Dreams (Again)
To be honest; I hated demigod dreams as much as I hated falling to my almost death. And that’s saying a lot.
First up was a lovely visit from the weird dude who keeps trying to kill me. And to be honest (again); he was really getting on my nerves.
“We-“ He began. I cut him off.
“I know, I know. We meet again.” He gave me a scowl. “You do realize that I’m seriously getting tired of this, right? Just go bother some other random person. I already know someone sent you to kill me. Can you tell me who? I kinda have a long list to go through, if you don’t mind.” I rolled my eyes at him and told him go on.
“You can’t guess?” He smiled like he had the leverage. “It’s someone who loves you so very much. He’s one of your only relatives still alive.” The guy laughed like this was funny. Those words hit me hard, he knew they were dead.
“That’s not funny.” I said, “I’m guessing my lovely uncle Zeus sent you.”
He nodded, “About time you got that right.”
“What can I say?” I shrugged, “I have ADHD and dyslexia, I’m a troubled child, can’t you figure that out yourself? Or do I need to help you?”
He gave me a death glare. “I’m coming after you soon enough, Tara Hullinger.”
“Whatever, come at me bro!” I challenged him. “Oh, and my real name is Tara Evelyn. Get it right next time, Doofus!”
“Soon enough you will be dead.” He scowled and backed up into the shadows.
I wasn’t scared of him any longer. He was the big bully at school that I could conquer. And with friends that I trusted by my side, I could overpower anyone who stood between me and victory. This guy wouldn’t get near me without dying.
The next dream was freaky, but not an I-want-to-go-hide-in-my-bed-under-the-covers kind of dream. Which was a relief.
I was standing back at camp, only it was covered with snow. This is unusual considering that its magical borders kept bad weather out.
But then her voice drifted through the wind. “This will be your camp and everything in it if you defy me and resist the cold.”
I rolled my eyes; this was yet another one of her dumb, pathetic tricks that weren’t real. She wasn’t even a real goddess. “Oh, can you just shut up, Ice Breath?”
She seemed to be taking this in and deciding how to respond. Finally she blurted out; “But- but your still no match to me.”
