Chapter 20: Having House Guests
In the morning, I woke up early and waved goodbye as Leo flew off on Amicus.
I hoped he’d get back to camp safely, and have no more encounters with a certain goddess. (*coughcough* KHIONE.) So, when that was done with, and I could no longer see him through the clouds, I walked back inside where my mother was brewing tea.
The whole morning was extremely awkward. Leo just started packing up and didn’t even talk to me whatsoever. No hug, no wave back, he just hopped on the dragon and rode off without another word to me. My mother brought me back to reality.
“Good morning sweetie, how’s your morning back home treating you?” She asked so kindly I almost lied and said “fine.”
“I could barely sleep last night.” I decided with the truth, because not only the fact my mother deserved it; but she could also probably tell if I were lying.
“Aww. I’m sure that tonight will be better. Plus, there will be no goddesses allowed.” We both giggled at this remark.
“No way. I’d rather not be a popsicle, thank you very much.” We both laughed even harder. Being back sure was great. “You know, mom, that I feel very relaxed. I’m glad to be away from camp. It’s all too much. I finally feel like I can sleep without being afraid of dying.”
She gave me a pressed smile, “Home will do that to you.” She then handed me a mug of lukewarm tea. “I’m having a visitor over tonight.”
“Oh, really?” I grinned. “Who is it?”
“Actually, I wasn’t expecting you to be here so soon, so I invited over a friend of mine.” She seemed to be having fun not telling me who this was.
“Go on.” I motioned with my hands.
“I invited over your father, Poseidon.” I gaped in shock at her. “I was supposed to talk to him about you, actually, but I think it’s better that you’re here now.”
“Really? No way.” I got out. “How long is he staying? Can I meet him face to face? Is he nice? When is he coming over?” I spurted all these questions.
“He won’t be staying long. As you can tell, Ohio is far from the ocean.” She explained. “And yes, I do believe that you’ll be able to meet him. But I have no clue how he shall act around you. He’s coming at eight thirty, so be ready.”
She had invited my dad, and I’d finally get to meet him! It was the greatest thing ever! But wait. What if he hated me? What if I disappointed him? What happened if I disrespected him? The more I thought, the more tonight seemed to be doomed.
My mother saw my expression, “Do not worry, you will be fine.”
